Actually, TMF, while I agree with everything you just posted, I was not the one who made the comment about Paolo and pace. Someone else gets the credit for that. But again I do agree with you.

Okay, I stand to be corrected. But I was almost sure you made that comment.

At my age I am in cognitive decline.   a8zJJV.png   :)

Well, whoever said it, I agree with them too.

That's what's I mean. He shouldn't be trying to go 1 on 1. They should design plays to get him a pick and pop, straight line to the rim, in the post, open 3, etc. It's clear none of that is happening, or at least being executed. I just can't understand why.

Thanks, Nick, for clarifying your thoughts on the situation.

    Here's the things I see.

    1) we have had 3 bad effort defenders in our starting lineup since Franz has been out - Paolo, bane, and black. Good God Black's lateral quickness is non-existent, molasses. That all would be hard for Mose to overcome with coaching alone. That situation gets improved (not fixed) when we get Franz back into the starting lineup. Remember we still took a hit going from KCP to Bane defensively. Although I do see Bane putting in more effort lately.

    2) Mose isn't our offensive coach. That's Prunty. When it comes to Paolo, what we should be asking is why isn't Prunty running plays designed for Paolo?  Why isn't Prunty putting Paolo is the post to dominate with his size, like ever. It seems there's a conscious approach to get the ball moving and get everyone else involved which has benefitted Bane and Black. Could Prunty be doing this because Paolo isn't shooting well this year?  Or maybe Paolo can't remember plays well and has to defer to 1 on 1? I don't know. I think Prunty is more who we should be focusing on for why Paolo isn't blossoming this year. We have all seen what Paolo is capable of so we know it's in there somewhere.

I don't think we should depend on one player to play 1 on 1 because that's what he is good at. That is called "padding stats". Paolo was putting up excellent numbers last season, but that's not good enough to put us at the top in our division and not get past the first round in the playoffs.

I believe it was JJZFL who said it best. Paolo cannot run at a fast pace, which is what our game plan this season is designed to do. The Magic has to slow the game down for him and it's not getting enough players involved. It's a team sport, not a one-player sport.

This team was all about ego tonight. Undeserved ego.    Really tired of it   The only one who plays hard every play and does not take rotations off to mug for the camera is Bane

I agree. That was one of the most boring, uninspired games this season. I like the way Bane uses his vet experience to point out things to a teammate on the court.

Glad to see your Game Night posts again TMF. We miss you while you’re out of state!

Thanks, jmmagicfan. These are not "official game thread starters" that I have been posting. Remember, it was the end of last season I said I was retiring from designing and posting the official ones. Now, I just throw something up so as to add a little color for each game. I didn't intend to post one for each game.

By the way, you mentioned about me being out of town. Well, I will be flying up to my vacation home in Maryland on February 28 and stay a month. While there I'm going on a cruise. So, I won't be able to post about the games while out at sea.

lol I do get excited and tend to over rely on the message board censoring for me. I’ll try to reign it in :)

Don't mind me, All Eyes On Me. It was a playful jab at you because I felt/believe you could take it--all in fun.

By the way, All Eyes On Me, you, Soul Bro and Fan For Too Long2 are the only ones that ever respond to off-the-wall stuff I post.  6hIQm0.png

Thats part of the accountability that is missing for our star players.

Everybody been in some kind of doghouse by the coach except our star players. They can do whatever tf they want.

Suggs been aura farming all season long.

Ooh, I love it! Let me add that "aura farming" to my list of terms that I am collecting from participants on this message board and keep them in a file on my computer--terms I never heard before. I borrow these terms for future use in my posts.

the starting team is really good if we can avoid injuries

what needs to change asap is the coach

and i dont really like the extensive celebrations by suggs while the game is being played. he loses time with this and ends up giving up points on the other end

I'm not campaigning to bring Stan back. For me, this is what coaching and player accountability looks like.

At this point you might as well cut Howard and pick up Cole for locker room purposes. The joy in that locker room has left the building

Oh my gosh. . .No way!  Is that you Weltman?

If the Magic brought back Cole, I will stop watching the Magic games until they send Cole packing again.

For all of you watching just witnessed the sure thing fastbreak miss, turned into the absolutely sure thing fastbreak for the Jazz. SMDH. This team might win a bunch of games in the second half but they do not know each other. Something is wrong with the chemistry. they don't know what each other are doing!

I agree 100% and it is frustrating to watch. I have to step away from time to time. I already have a sinus headache, and it just makes it worse.

  11. I might be wrong, but I predict the problem might be either Suggs or Paolo--each wanting the ball in his hands. Suggs, especially after his heroics in the last game. Tonight he might try to persevere in being the star of the show and play hero ball which might cause the Magic to lose this game.

OK gonna watch the game tonight. I really want Bane and Suggs to start having some chemistry tonight.  Besides the obvious coaching problems what this team really needs is a leader. Paolo is not there yet, and the other vets we have are just not those guys.

I want the entire team--starters and rotation units--to start having some chemistry and not have the entire team playing all "willy-nilly", indicating there is no game plan.

Good to get a wire to wire win. Bench is still an issue. Jalen with a triple double and adds in 4 blocks and 3 steals. Moe good scoring off the bench. Maybe they’re both finally knocking the rust off, maybe the Nets just suck? Who knows… when Franz gets back I’m curious to see what rotation solidifies itself. AB and Moe with the starters will be 7 of the 9 in a playoff rotation, Jase will prob be 8. JI, Penda, TDS and Jett are all meh tho and I’m hoping whoever that 9th guy is just isn’t on the team yet. lol @ Weltman saying there weren’t minutes available. That’s because we have too much patience with underperforming players.

The Nets' defense was awful. I'm happy for the win, but the Magic got away with a win against a bottom feeder team.

Don’t really like seeing Suggs hamming it up against a bad team. We’ve been losing a lot of games against average to very good teams lately. Doesn’t give us a lot of credibility to gloat when we’re finally winning one against one of the worst teams in the league.

Kind of reminds me of guys making a big celebration for a touchdown when their team is still down by 25

Ain't that the truth. I hate to see it anytime in any sport, especially when lesser teams use to do it to us when they beat us and we were the better team.

I'm glad you mentioned that JJZFL.
