I'm with you on this one, All Eyes On Me. I do not want Fox here with the Magic. He's just as bad as Suggs. Just the thought makes me almost have a heart attack like Fred Sanford.

Almost? Except for winning that one game in the Finals, the Spurs' guards looked like trash--dribbling the ball into the paint surrounded by 3 or 4 defenders, then getting trapped under the basket which resulted in turning the ball over. The Spurs played better in the series against OKC when De aron Fox was sitting on the bench injured. In the previous game, of the Finals he was making all kinds of turnovers. I only watched the first half of tonight's game 5. In this series the Spurs reminded me of the Magic, starting out with a reasonable lead in the first half, then blowing the lead in the 3rd or 4th quarter.

jmmagicfan, this is to let you know you made my day with your response to the lyrics I used in my previous post, "I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can", which was my shout out in support of Wemby of the Spurs. Your responding with a line from the lyrics of the song I was referencing brought tears to my eyes. It was a happy feeling because I had been feeling a little down and depressed--not about basketball.

You guys! The Knicks were well rested. The Spurs had just come off a tough series with No. 1 OKC. Remember the Spurs won the first game in that series just like the Knicks won the first game in these finals. OKC won the next 3 games where the Spurs had to even it at 3-3 to force a game 7. OKC was the top team in both conferences and was the returning champs. So what makes some of you all think that the Spurs, who was ranked number 2 in the entire league with a 62-20 record is going to roll over for the Knicks, who was ranked number 7 in the league with a 53-29 record. It's going to be a tough finals, but don't count out Wemby and the boys. And the nerve of criticizing how Wemby gets his points. There is a lyric in an old song that goes, "I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can." :)

You mean to tell me, no matter who the Magic bring in to be the head coach, their hands will be tied because the fo will have a say as to which player(s) the new coach cannot hold accountable?

Slow down, Luke_FfS. I appreciate the fillers that you and other regulars provide the forum this off season. But your recent posts about Sweeney has caused me to become depressed. You have become quite the skeptic. We have to give Sweeney an opportunity to live up to the raving reports from others he has worked under. Don't you agree? Look at Mike Brown who has been around the league going back to 2005 when he coached the LeBrons Cavs. He has been an assistant or head coach since that time (Warriors and Grizzlies) Now he is the head coach of the Knicks who are in the 2026 nba finals. TMF's saying is: "The NBA is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you're gonna get!" :)

Sounds good to me. As I posted before, Sweeney has all the qualities the Magic needs and are looking for, and he is young, 41 years old. The Magic does not need a recycled coach to develop this young team. YEAH, BABY! GO MAGIC!!!

But people can change, jmmagicfan. Remember Gilbert Arenas and the gun situation he was involved with when he played for the Wizards. Then the Magic traded for him. I'm not saying he made a difference when he played for the Magic, but he brought a different attitude to our team. Did anyone see the picture I posted a while ago of Ja Morant, J Jackson and Bane? Desmond said that they are close friends and their friendship will last forever. I think we would see a different Ja if he joined his buddy on the Magic team. Ja is also the outstanding true point guard we need. Edit: Also, I don't think Mickey and Minnie Mouse would tolerate any foolishness from Ja in their house. :)

I'm rooting for the Spurs to win it all. I just don't think OKC can handle the Knicks in the finals of the NBA championship. With one of my new favorite players Wemby, I think the Spurs' core of Wemby, Fox, Castle, Vessell and even Dylan Harper can give the Knicks a "run for their money". GO SPURS,,,GO!!!

I'm not a Cavs fan, but that team made a dumb move bringing Harden to their team. . .dumb! dumb! dumb! Harden thinks he is God's gift to NBA basketball; that every team in the league should be down on their knees begging him to join them. I didn't watch the Cavs vs Knicks game last night, but Harden's stats from that game should tell you something. Harden had 12 pts., but only 2 fgs. Guess what? he had 8 free throws!. . .2 assists. . .and 5 turnovers! (He was probably bricking 3s)

Shaq don't know anything. He brings nothing to the table with the other 3 ESPN analysts (Ernie, Charles, and Kenny). He must have a close relationship with Kidd. We don't need anymore Magic drama. We need a fresh face--"diamond in the rough"--to coach our team.

The Knicks admit they were seeking out Harden: "They were relentless in seeking out Harden on the defensive end, and they took advantage of Cleveland's inability to stop Jalen Brunson from scoring on Harden." I mentioned in a previous post that Harden could not guard Brunson. So as it turns out, it was the Knicks strategy to make sure that when Harden was guarding Brunson, it was a given that Brunson would score against him--guaranteed.

The stupid Cavs coach allowed Harden to do as he please and the Knicks knew Harden is a ball hog and was/is prepared to defend him--with Harden there is no accountability. Just because Harden is considered a future hall of famer, he is not the Harden he was over a decade ago, and the Cavs should not give him "carte blanche" to do as he please. Harden should not be the primary ball handler. He dribbles the ball into the ground and has been making all kinds of blunders like bricking 3s and throwing the ball out of bounds. He pads his stats with forced foul calls. Donovan Mitchell stands in the corner when he and Harden are in the game together and sits on the bench a lot while Harden spends a lot more time in the game. Before Harden was traded to the Cavs, Mitchell was always the Cavs' "bread and butter". smh Harden has been around the league: OKC, Rockets, Nets, 76ers, Clippers and Cavs, chasing a ring. Go stand in a corner Harden and wait for your hall of famer ceremony.

I agree 100%, FLBoy84. All of the things that you mentioned about Sweeney, his attributes and all that is needed to help develop the Magic into a top notch team--a contender--is a great candidate for the Magic's head coach position. He probably also holds players accountable too. I love it that he is also in that young age group (40 to 41 years old) along with the Spurs' Mitch Johnson and OKC's Mark Daigneault.

Why would the Magic want to bring in Billy Donovan as the new head coach. I believe it was Shine88 who repeatedly criticized the Magic organization for not bringing in a coach or coaches' assistant who is good at x's and o's. I may have the wrong poster. But anyway, I remember Donovan who coached the Florida Gators to back-to-back ncaa college championships in 2006 and 2007 approx. 20 years ago. But Donovan, the Chicago Bulls coach who recently stepped down is boring. We need a younger coach who is up-to-date with new and fresh coaching strategies (x's and o's) that are not from the dark ages. Coaches like the Spurs head coach, Mitch Johnson and Oklahoma's head coach, Mark Daigneault who can get the best out of the Magic's young players. I'm going to be depressed and bored if Donovan is hired as the Magic's new head coach. /just my opinion. Edit: Billy Donovan is 60 yrs. old. That should tell you something. Let the arguements begin.

I agree with your entire post. In the link you provided, the coach admitted there was fatigue in that 4th quarter, which is what I saw. The players looked like they were sapped of their energy. Like coach Atkinson said, " they were pinging the ball all over the place," which in my opinion he should have called some timeouts.

I'm beginning to not like watching basketball with the way the Cavs blew a sizeable lead like the Magic did in one of their playoff games.
