A second game on the road against the Lakers after a 2-0 beginning, sounds like a game that doesn't hurt so much actually to lose and you kind of relax. However, I think these guys on the Magic team got a competitive spirit that I wouldn't be surprised if we take a W at LA

I don't know if Markelle 's hand is ok or if he has some kind of injury from the last game.

he was interviewed at practice yesterday and participated. not sure what it means

  2. The Team rarely makes these nice schedules anymore so i made this one following the style they used to use in years past.

    Hi!

Let me begin by saying I feel bad for not posting here for a long, long time. I honestly feel like I neglected my Magic fam and the friends I had made here. Some I still socialize with on Facebook and Twitter err..X. For that I am sorry, genuinly as the Magic and the city of Orlando mean so much to me. I didn't go anywhere when ot comes to the Orlando Magic, I just got pulled in other directions when it comes to Magic news and disussions.

That, and for a long time I had trouble logging in here for some very odd reason but that's a different story.

However, at work today, I was missing Magic basketball and I started to think about thr excitement of years past, gamethreads, sognatures and whatnot. I felt I need to get back on here and what I miss a lot, is making and participating in gamethreads. I don't have a computer with photoshop today so my gamethreads, should I make some, might be a bit different. It might change as I have the urge. Also, getting old hah

Looking forward to next season and cheering for the Magic with you :)

    ÁFRAM ORLANDO

only a few 2006's left on the board!

The Magic arguably entered the night with more point guards than they needed, and they added another here. I actually like that, since it shows Orlando felt Black was the best player available and valued that more than anything. That's the smart move for any rebuilder to make.

Black arrives in the Association with an advanced understanding of the game of basketball. Fortune-tellers don't pick up on things as quickly as he can. And he's not just a step ahead of the defense, he's also often a few inches taller as a 6'7" floor general. That means he can already read and see the floor better than most. His playmaking will make him a quick favorite in the locker room.

There aren't many boxes he leaves unchecked, but the exceptions are worrisome. He can't shoot, and he isn't super shifty as a ball-handler. If he isn't a shooting threat and can't beat defenders off the bounce, how is he going to run an NBA offense? For someone with so many winning traits, his lowest-end outcome looks rough.

Still, his combination of size, smarts and skill is enough reason to buy in. Orlando will have to clear out its backcourt congestion at some point, but that's because Black might already be the best of the bunch.

Im not as upset at the Ant Black pick, cause its a crapshoot from 6-11, but i am super disappointed at the 11th pick. With Gradey Dick still on the board, we chose a .301 3 pt shooter at 6 and then at 11 we choose a 36% 3pt shooter - if we were drafting for shooting we could have just taken Dick.

I think he will be a fine shooter as his FT was 80% but still.

My issue with drafting shooters in the draft, is that they rarely translate as advertised in the NBA. I am definitely staying away from Dick!!

    - McLemore was supposed to be hyperathletic Ray Allen 2.0

    - Kispert was Joe Harris 2.0

    - Jabari Smith was R. Lewis/ Gallinari 2.0

    - Monk struggled for long

    - Nesmith struggling for his career

    - Reddish struggling

    - K. Knox struggling for his career

    - Kennard solid

just to name a few.. Rarely do these shooters work out.. I can think of Cam Johnson and Trey Murphy, but struggling to find more

But we could go the opposite and pick people who were good shooters in college who struggled early and finished as some of the best shooters.

  6. Im in love with Gradey at 6 and Hawkins at 11... That gives us a Quad of 3 point shooting to play and space. You got Caleb, Dick, Hawkins and Harris as rotation.

You start Fultz, Gradey, WCJ, Paolo and Franz and coming off the bench you got Caleb, Hawkins, Suggs, Cole, Harris, JI, Mo and Goga... Expendables are Admiral, MCW, BOL, and Chuma. all those can be trad bait for some veterans or kept. That leaves Scubb and Kevon with 2 way contracts. Obviously thats 2 over so i would trade Bol, Chuma and a filler for a decent Vet or something.

Vecenie throwing out the Orlando card in the Portland quandary …scroll to the 5 minute mark

That was the dumbest thought process - suggesting we would offer 6, 11 and WCJ for the 3 if its Scoot...his caveat is saying that if "Orlando thought scoot was the PG of the future"

  8. I would not trade up at all unless we were packaging the two picks, plus next years first, and some salary matches for Luka. (providing he's disgruntled and wants to move on) thats the only way i would trade those two picks. I think we can reasonably come away with Gradey and hawkins and both mesh well with our current squad and both have major shooting upside skills and this allows us to package Chuma and other stuff away to open up salary for Austin Reeves, who i would target and possibly Vucavic as a backup.

Are those of you rooting for the Magic to take Dick envisioning him as a starting shooting guard or a backup small forward? I worry about his ability to guard players at the two guard spot. While he hustles and you can't question his effort on that end, he's kind of slow and weak and I worry that he'll give up more points than he gets you. I prefer Hendricks for the 3-and-d potential; he can spread the floor a bit and won't likely give up more points than he nets you.

they said the the same thing about JJ redick

    Quote

“When you have a great commitment to winning like J.J. does and you play hard and you’re tough and you’re smart as hell, you’re gonna be a pretty good defender, especially as a team guy,” Van Gundy said. “Smart, tough guys who want to win, it usually won’t be too hard for them to pick up the defense.”

Redick interviewing for a head coaching job does seem a bit presumptuous considering he has never coached before; however, he did have some really good coaches, was a premier college player who couldn’t get off the bench his first few seasons in the NBA, and turned in the effort to become a valuable player with a reasonable career.

Would I hire him as a shooting/development coach, absolutely. Would I hire him as a 1st or 2nd assistant, probably. As a head coach, maybe not.

If i was Mosley i would bring him to our bench. I think they could work well together.

Watched this well put and well said video analysis....as I've watched others.

Right now all should be set in stone....first 3 picks: Wemby, Scoot and Amen.

If we get super lucky and get one of them, it means that a major transformation of the team should happen. Markelle and Wendell are prospects to be traded.

We have 2 firsts, my favorite players to be picked, any 2 of these 4 are: Cam Whitmore, GG Jackson, Anthony Black and Keyonte George. Any combination from these 4 will help make this team hard to beat.

I pass on Ausar Thompson, Gradey and Brandon Miller.

Getting "these" new 2 players, means that a medium transformation of the team should happen. Chuma, JI, Cole are prospects to be traded.

Next years teams, I think, will push Dwight's team down.....next years teams will be the Magic's 2nd best team of all time. Shaq's and Penny's teams still, #1.

I dont think you pass on Gradey Dick. I wish he had at least 2 seasons of college for history, but his 1st year stats matchup more favorably against JJ Redick and that man ended up career 41.5% 3ptshooter - 19th all time behind some of the best shooters to ever play the game, 12th if you take out people who made less then 600 through their career, and of the 20 other players who have made more 3's then him only Klay, Korver and Curry boast a better percentage ~1.4% difference.

All this to say i think gradey will be a phenomenal shooter and that is what he have avoided drafting the last 10 years.

The only rookies in history to match his numbers:

    Luka

    Blake Griffin

    Jordan

    Bird

    Sidney Wicks

    Kareem

    Oscar Robertson

    Elgin Baylor

I believe all of them are (not sure about wicks, to lazy to go look it up) or will be hall of famers - maybe griffin wont make it, but i bet by the last time he's on the ballot they will vote him in.

My exact thoughts as always. We need ballers, i see a guard and a forward if we keep both picks. No sense of talking about the top 5 players until the lotto. The way it's looking unless we pick at number two i'm calling a forward with the first pick. Size still gets drafted and the late lotto forwards seem to have moved up in all the mocks. I love Cason because those Kentucky guards just produce. Unless we fall in the Thompson range, i can't see our gm's passing on Whitmore,Walker or even Hendricks if they have the chance. Can take a chance on many guards with the Bulls pick.

I want us to pick the BPA that can shoot. I wouldnt mind trading both picks  (if they are 9 and 11) up to get gradey

I apologize if I given you that sensation, but if you read my message back, it was only a confirmation of what CT wrote, and I was actually pointing out the general situation of the forum (I imagine not only the Orlando Magic one, all fans probably do the same) in hoping to get superstar players for "cheap". I've actually mentioned Jaylen cause was one of the most recent ones, but every season and every year there's such a (normal) tendency.

I'm convinced your proposal would not be enough for Dallas, not even close, but I could clearly be wrong. To pry Doncic from them right now they would probably need the assurance of the n1 pick to take Wemb, and who knows if they value him enough? Without him included, more picks, or specifically more talent (Wagner or Banchero) would be necessary IMO.

I wasn't upset so I appreciate your calm response, and your additional information written blow is exactly the kind of discussion I'd love to have because you were very clear, concise, and your opinion was that you don't think that that would be enough. And that's perfect... I would be willing to trade the number one pick and paolo if that's what it took to get. Luca but I definitely would trade less pics if I was trading both those lol
