quote: Originally posted by Mr Charisma:Personally, I think that what has happened to JJ is that, in practice, he has to go up against Bogans. Bogans can stop JJ, but JJ can not stop Bogans. That is what SVG is seeing, and that is why he has little faith in JJ. Fair or not, JJ is being penalized because our 1st string SG is a bad match-up for him. But from a coaches perspective, when I have a player that is continually abusing the other in practice, I lose a lot of credibility with the players (that are seeing the same thing) if I ignore what happens in practice and give time to JJ anyway. I don't know that this is what is happening, but I would expect that this is, at least partially, the case. Unfortunately, the longer he rides the pine, the more his trade value diminishes. If we are going to trade him, the sooner the better, because every day that passes, the sign on the window keeps changing. 10% off.... 15% off.... 20% off... Hopefully we get something before the Closeout sale prices kick in. I agree about the match up with Bogans. Some games JJ is just not going to get in but with his talent he should get in the majority of the games. I wonder what team realistically he could go to if he was traded.

Yes I have been thinking the same but I last heard that when he wasn't solidified in the rotation and before any serious mention of the post regular season play. He needs to scale back particularly if we manage to have a good showing in the playoffs. There is one part of his game that is troublesome. He has developed a hesitation at the top of the key that cost him a few turnovers. He starts to go up for the shot and pulls it back. It also allows defenders to close on him. I'd like for him to know where he is on the floor and know as he gets the ball whether he wants to shoot. With the way teams are playing him he's not going to be open very often to decide after getting the ball. Saw a few ESPN shots of Him and Grant discussing things as he came off the floor. Really good to see. Since JJ isn't fast or tall he can learn even more from Grant's Basketball smarts. i also noticed the hesitation at the top of the key. hopefully by next year that will not be a problem.JJ is going to get a lot of basketball in during the off season.

It gives us a SG that can spread the floor. It gives us a hard-working SF that can defend four different positions well. It gives us a PF that can play the high-post and see the floor well. And of course a center that would benefit from playing with these guys. However, besides Dwight, the other four players have been used sparingly all season. Do we, as fans, really not grasp the game of basketball as well as we think we do? Do we just look for anything different so that we can continue blaming the coaches? Or, does our coach refuse to see the weapons that we have and how they would compliment each other to become a force? smack,i have no idea what our coach is seeing, and as a whole this group has a very good grasp on the game of basketball.

at the end of the game and at the end of 1st overtime we let the clock run down for nelson to take a "hope it goes in shot".i hate plays like that.we did not even try to run a good play.at least drive the lane and maybe get a call to go to the lane. all we needed was 1 point.oh i almost forgot, the refs suck. -

If he gets open, it's by miscommunication, but otherwise they're always right in his face! Steve was the only player to give him space...........and he payed for it! i think he shoots better when he has a defender in his face. ever since duke he has had to work to get his shot off.with more minutes and more confidence, you will not see the hesitation to take shots with a great defender in his face.
