    Magic blogger on AOL

I think you all know how much I love the Magic. But I have to say that I have my doubts on weather or not they are going to make the playoffs. There are only 8 spots and I just don't know if 41-41 will cut it this year to get in. I'm not going to rank teams out because there are so many different things to look at. But if everything was to go right there are some teams that you just know for a fact that are going to play over .500. 1 Detroit- they've done it the last 5 or 6 years and that's not about to change, at least not yet. 2 Cavs- they just get it done ever since Lebron 3 Bulls- They keep getting better and better 4 Wizards- they are more than just agent 0, they are tough and well bond. 5 Miami- From the coach to DWade to Shaq, this team is like the Pistons, tough as nails. 6 Boston- I got to throw my home team in there. I don't care what anybody says about our depth. these 3 are NBA All Stars, they're veterans and what's most important they know it's now or never which will push them to the limit. plus they're still putting pieces together. 7 Raptors- To me this team is like the Bulls, just that not quite there yet, they are 1 or 2 stages behing in the developing of their team. Now that only leave the 8 spot How good is New Jersey going to be this year? I don't really now but when this team is running on all cylinders they are pretty much unbeatable. Now remember that I am not ranking the teams I'm just saying teams that I believe will play over .500 IMO the Magic did get better this off season with the new coach and staff and with Lewis I just don't think it will be good enough. Actually what I think messed it all up for the Magic is how strong Boston got. They were completely out of the picture and that would've given the Magic a chance.
  3. Please, Please, Please.... Stop the madness, lol. Might as well just give PR the Gold right now, before someone takes a dirty blow at one of our players. This must be flat out embarrassing to the other teams. I'm loving it though, lol
  4. quote: Originally posted by ShAdOwX: quote: Originally posted by the Judge:Carlos Arroyo acted like an idiot child in last night's game. He shouted "Youre really bad" to a poor foreigner referee (the game is in PR) right in his face, right before 4th Quarter tipoff. The game was open and virtually finished by then. Embarrasing. I will agree with you but he really was horrible and you have to remember that in a close game you want the ref's to call it even or that will mean a loss. No problem with me by what arroyo did. The game was a blow out from the bigging, there was no need for him to argue nothing
  5. Carlos did not have the best of nights last night. He was even called for a technical foul after complaining to one of the refs. According to the Puertorican paper "Primera Hora" Carlos approached the ref and said " you are really bad" expressing his frustration with the way the ref had been making calls. Here is the actual article, if anybody is interested. http://www.primerahora.com/noticia/baloncesto/acciondep...quipo_nacional/97383 and here is the boxscore of the game http://fibaamericas.com/fnabox.asp?g=B&n=4&r=5736 Again I love Carlos but his attitude is got to change.
  6. Hello all, Granted that Arroyo played really good in this game. As a matter of fact he plays good in all international games, but there is a reason to it. He has a big green light from the coaching staff to do pretty much anything he wants on the court. Unfourtunately he's never had that in the NBA. He needs that to deliver his best game. At the same time that green light lifts his ego. Carlos has a big ego (I'm Puertorican, I love Carlos and have followed his career for a long time) but it has to be said. He loves being "the hero", in PR he's taken a lot of heat for being "c o c k y". IMO he is yet to understand that in the NBA he will never be the "hero" that he is in international competition. There are many reasons to it. 1 Level of talent and competition in international games does not match to the NBA. 2 The 10 games max they play in international games does not match to the 82 games of the regular season. and 3 scouting. In international competition most of the time you don't know much about the opposition and the same is the other way around. In the NBA the staff and players study tapes every day to learn how to defend and how to run the offense. IMO that's why Carlos is so inconsistent in the NBA. He has skills and potential but not enough to be the star that he believes he is and that many of us think of him. I hope I don't take much heat for speaking what I believe is the truth and that the "blind Arroyo fans" think about it for a sec. BTW I mean no disrespect by calling some of you "blind Arroyo fans" it's just that some really don't want to see past being a fan.
  7. I wonder what Yao and TMac are thinking about this move?

    Indiana Pacers Sign Diener

Though Maceo Baston will not return to the Pacers, it appears the backup point guard slot has been stabilized with the reported contract agreement with free agent Travis Diener. The Pacers opted not to match Toronto's offer sheet (reportedly $3.8 million over two seasons) on restricted free agent Baston, who'll now officially join the Raptors. Even without Baston, the team is relatively well-stocked in the frontcourt (Jermaine O'Neal, Jeff Foster, Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu, David Harrison) and has priorities elsewhere, specifically point guard. "I like Maceo a lot," said Donnie Walsh, "but this time of year you have to make some tough choices, and we chose to let him go." Baston averaged 8.6 minutes, 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds in 47 appearances last season. He rejoins the Toronto team that gave him his first NBA opportunity in 2003. Though the Pacers haven't confirmed the deal, The Indianapolis Star reported the agreement with Diener, who averaged 3.8 points and 1.0 assists in 49 games with the Magic the past two seasons. A 6-1, 175-pound sharpshooter who paired with Dwyane Wade to lead Marquette to the NCAA Final Four in 2003, Diener should get the chance to establish himself as a legitimate NBA backup with the Pacers. We know he can shoot: fully 72 percent of his shots (107 of 149) have come from the 3-point line, and he's hit 40.2 percent. http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/web_070719.html Best wishs for him

Not again...Lewis re thinking Orlando (Espn)

dude!!! I was like WTF!!! lol, I did get a kick out of it
  10. so let me ask you guys a question. Do you believe we are a worst team than last year's? IMO we are a better team. 1st We hired a 50 times better coach than the one we had. 2 That coach brought with him an excellent staff (especially Ewing for Dwight) 3 We added Lewis who's 22 to 24 ppg are what GHill and Darko averaged together. (yes we did overpaid him) But if you were to over pay one of two... Who would you over pay Darko or Lewis? Darko wanted 10 mil a year!!!! So to me I'm not 100% satisfied and I don't expect anyone to be, but I do believe we are a better team this year and I do believe we are moving in the right direction.

It's just could've, should've, would've... what if this what if that... that's what we got, that was the best he could do. Do I stand 100% behind his decision? No! Do I live with it and hope for the best? that's all I can do. This is the same arguement we have year after year being Magic fans. Just because we are stuck with it, doesn't mean we need to be satisfied with it. Especially this offseason of all offseasons. This was supposed to be the year we took a MAJOR step toward contention. Well, we took one step forward and took three step back. We have mortgaged our entire future on the shoulders of two players. It's not even a calculated risk. It's just a blantantly unnecessary risk. We had loads of options and instead of exploring them all, or even preparing for the possibility of others, we opened door #1 and were completely content with the prize we won. Too bad when we were walking to the podium to claim our prize we found out about all the ancilary fees, taxes and penalties that would accompany the coveted prize. I feel your frustration smack, trust me. Just that I know (atleast I hope) that there are more moves to come. There could be some trades coming up, we have some young talent in the summer league that seems to be doing well and the biggest of all that everyone seem to have forgotten about, we hired a great coach on SVG how brought with him a great staff. that alone makes us a better team that we were last year and that my friend is promissing.
  12. quote: Originally posted by nbr34205: quote: future will tell It will, however if there is a need to assess and make moves to enhance this roster it will be the recent moves that deteriorate our every chance to do so. This is pretty much it. This is what we have. ^^^ agreed but what can we do? it's done! that's just another if. just hope for the best.
  13. quote: Originally posted by Marc Acres 3:16:Chad Ford also ripped Otis for not trading for Vince at the deadline. So in his mind if we don't give up Trevor, Darko, and Grant to overpay for Vince we are in bad shape and if we give up Darko and Grant to overpay for Rashard we are in bad shape. We gambled, just like we have been gambling every other year. One thing I have noticed is timing is everything. When SA drafted Duncan, they had Robinson coming off being injured. What pieces did they need to add to win? When PHX signed Nash, they were not good the year before and drafted Amare, they already had Marion. Both of those guys were on rookie deals that cost much less so they didn't have to break the bank. Shoot look at Toronto! Bosh now has Bargnani, they didn't have to overspend at all! We haven't been anywhere near as fortunate with timing and maybe that is what it all comes down to, luck. We draft Dwight, we get just good enough to get a high lottery pick but not bad enough to get a really good player. If we stunk the year after drafting Dwight maybe we have a team with Chris Paul and Dwight. If Grant came back at his full ability after we drafted Dwight, if Tracy stayed, if, if, if. None of that happened, this is what we had to work with. Ford says Wallace was the way to go. Wallace said he wanted to stay in Cha, we would have had to overpay and that is assuming they wouldn't just match. He says no one else had the assets to get Rashard so we were bidding against ourselves. So Isiah and his magic trade machine weren't out there? Houston wasn't calling? There are no sure things, if there were, no GM would ever be fired. Sure Otis probably could have done things better. He could have cleared cap better, he could have gotten something (ANYTHING!!) for Darko, Grant, and Diener, but this is what the choices were as of July 1, 2007. ^^^ amen brother!! It's just could've, should've, would've... what if this what if that... that's what we got, that was the best he could do. Do I stand 100% behind his decision? No! Do I live with it and hope for the best? that's all I can do.
  14. quote: Originally posted by ibonedteribell: quote: Now that is all said and done, that the top players from free agency have been signed and the numbers are known... everybody wants to have a word in what Otis should have done, this and that... it just a bounch BS!!! if you ask me. I'm sure Otis and the rest of the front office looked at all of these things before making their moves. But in this business you have to gamble if you want to give yourself a chance, cause the future is unknown to all of us. After they looked at everything they believed that signing Lewis for that much and letting Darko go with nothing in return, was the best they could do. That was what made sense to them!!! Do I think we overpaid Lweis? YES! Look at the players that have similar contracts and IMO Lewis doesn't match up to them. At the same time, Is Lewis the RIGHT PIECE for the MAGIC? You bet he is! Let it play out guys!! Otis knows he's not playing NBA live on XBOX or anything like that. He knows this is the real deal, and that the wrong move can cost him his job. For what I've seen from Otis, he's taking the business kinda like a chess game. Making a move thinking of 3 or 4 ahead, so give him time... we'll all see 3 or 4 moves down the road. Orlando Magic, Arroyandolos a todos GoMagic, Fine and Dandy on the fact you trust Otis to the point that if you were to find your girlfriend under the sheets with Otis, you would believe when he told you he was just making sure she was the right one for you.LOL I agree to the fact that our second guessing brings no solution to the team situation now but if you are going to defend him use reasonable opposing arguments against those given in the article. If we got tattoed with this deal we are going to have to live with it and make the best with what we have. it's not even like that man. It's just that at the end you got to understand that he is not doing anything to hurt the team or his position. People keep talking and making noise on how Otis screwed us and stuff. Let it play out... future will tell
  15. although everything in this article is very true, there is a spanish saying that goes: "it is easy to tell if it's a male after you see his balls".
