Junkie, actually I said I was okay that we took Lee. I preferred CDR but that was more out of familiarity. Yes, I did want us to trade for Arthur, too. However, after some thought, I found myself asking, "How many 216 pound power forwards make it in this league?" Even Jamison is 235+ pounds and he is a rare exception. IMO, Arthur has a huge uphill battle to climb to make it in the NBA.

He can score a variety of ways, and the Magic needed a 2. But he wasn't the best player on the board. Darrell Arthur, for instance, would have been a better pick. I'm not down on Lee, but he's not a guy who can put them over the top. For the record, he graded us a B- . http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/columns/story?c...e=DraftGrades-080627 Ford is a moron. He had D. Jordan as a top 10 pick less than a month ago. And to his grade remarks, Arthur would have put us "over the top?"

I chose Lee. Why? The more I read about the kid, the more I like him. I think he can be a solid NBA SG for years. I didn't choose Arthur for two reasons. First, he is a shrimp, or should I say noodle, at 6'9'' 216 pounds. I weigh more than this cat at 6'5'' and 220 pounds, and I am pretty thin. Second, his motor often is questioned. Honestly, had you asked me yesterday who I would have rather had, I would have said Arthur. But I have changed my opinion based on the apparent readiness and skill of Lee versus the noodle-likeness and questioned motor of Arthur. Time will tell who will be the better pro.

Who knows who might become available as well during camp. Some vet bigs may get released and come to us for cheap due to teams looking to give their rookies playing time. Like I said in another thread, if Otis doesn't deliver on a solid PF during free agency, then sign me up on the "Otis is a moron" bandwagon. There has to be more to it then just what happened last night. I felt that same way going into last season and into the trade deadline last season, there has to be more to it. I keep saying that but when the opportunities are out there for the world to see, there is never more to it. Don't discount Cookie, Marc

Kyler says the Redick/Haslem trade could happen - Update on page "2"

I think a sign-and-trade of Dooling, JJ, and a future 1st could possibly work. It is no secret that the Heat love Dooling. Could Miami do better? Sure, but they would probably have to take back more contracts (think Hinirch, etc.), which I've heard they are reluctant to do. Know this, Otis and SVG covet Haslem. -
"Donnie Nelson said the Mavs were 'active' late in the first round and at various points in the second round. But teams wanted more cash for picks than Mark Cuban was willing to cough up. 'We didn't feel the price was right,' Nelson said." http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/06/picks-w...-for-mavs-blood.html I apologize if this has already been posted. It is VERY relevant to this discussion. If Mark Cuban wouldn't shell out money for a late first or early second rounder b/c the price was too high, the price was too high, imo. Hate on Otis, hate on Cuban.

I wish so badly we would have drafted CDR. He is a baller. I hope we made the right pick. -
I've wanted CDR all along. If we get him, I will be satisfied.

You we call for Otis' head if he drafts....

As for me, if we pick any international player (with the exception of Batum), I will be a disappointed. -

Pass. Crawford is a terrible shot selector and plays no defense.

I believe it will be between Lee and CDR, and I think Otis will ultimately pick Lee. -

In terms of his play, he can be outstanding. I can surely see why you bring him up. Others solid fans on this board have brought him up in the past couple of months, too (i.e. Ball Junkie).

No way we go after him. He is always injured or in trouble with the law, the two things we loathe.
