    Magic at Heat - Wednesday, March 4 @ 7:00 P.M.

It was the 3rd or 4th option. Ross and fournier couldn't get open.

Yeah but it's more than that. I don't know if this is true because I don't have the ability to actually measure this but the team is operating on a premise that Ennis draws the defense in more than iwundu. So the reason why Vucevic, Fournier, Gordon, and Ross are all averaging 20ppg over the past 8 games has to do with that spacing Ennis provides whereas teams didn't close out very hard on iwundu because even if they left him wide open he'd only hit 1 or 2 threes. Now I'd argue that if this was our philosophy going into the trade deadline "get an actual 'shooter' who can play some defense to open up the starting lineup" I'm not sure that Ennis was the best candidate. And I'm not sure why we wouldn't have just started Ross if that was all we were missing. But that's what the team is thinking.

The 40% is what you get if you just go by what he's done in 2020. But iwundu is such low volume that I'm not sure it's actually real. What that's basically saying is iwundu is a good three point shooter because in 22 games he hit 19 out of 44 threes. But he'd be below average if he hit 15 out of 44 threes. Last year he hit 29 of 79 threes to get to 36.7% but he'd be below average if he hit 27 of 79 threes. I'm not super high on Ennis and Clark is playing because he weighs 20 pounds more than iwundu and can handle bigger bodies. But you can't argue with our offensive production since Ennis has entered the lineup and iwundu was benched.

Iwundu is a 31.7% three point shooter this year...

In what world is 7.5ppg as a starter Wes iwundu a two way player?

How many two way players do you think we have right now? Gordon Fultz ???

I think we're probably more interested in two way players. Beasley can shoot but we've seen with fournier what shooting without acceptable defense can do. People love Russell and people love Beasley but there's a reason Minnesota is 2-8 since the trades and giving up 127 ppg in that timeframe.

There's no chance we trade Isaac. The franchise loves him like a son.

    No. But Gordon should play

Yeah. The argument should never be fournier is better than McCollum. Just that people seem to want McCollum because he's averaging 22ppg and I'd bet they wouldn't want him if he was averaging 19ppg and I'm thinking if he was in a different situation that's what he'd average.

Everything depends on health. This version of the team without Gordon probably finishes with something like 34 wins.

He's really not that good. He's a product of high field goal attempts. http://bkref.com/tiny/821E8

Portland fans hate him. He's their Fournier We definitely overrate him because we've watched him torch Vucevic for several years now.

Magic Vs. Trailblazers - Monday, March 2 at 7:00 P.M.

The defense we play is built to give up shots in areas where McCollum is one of the most efficient shooters in the NBA. You'd think one of these times we'd switch things up.

I wonder if Vucevic was ever good in the post or if his footwork and lack of tracking stats made us think he was good.

Ennis can play defense and is effectively our backup 4 in small lineups. Daniels is a lot like Meeks because he's 6'4 and can't defend. So he'd have to take mcw or DJ's spot in the rotation and DJ has a better production ceiling and MCW sometimes looks like one of our best players. So we don't really have a spot for Daniels. If we wanted to dump Frazier for him I'd be cool with it but I also understand continuing to try and develop a guy vs dumping him for a guy who probably won't even be on the active playoff roster if Isaac comes back

"4" is a pointless term. You have to stop looking at guys like pegs that can only fit one hole. We spend most of our time lately getting Gordon switched onto smaller defenders so he can use his size and strength to get them to the rim. That doesn't change with Isaac in the lineup. What does is our spacing. The success of Gordon and Isaac as a pair is dependent on both guys being league average shooters at worst. That's why it looked great the end of last year when both guys were hitting threes and it looked bad at times this year when both guys weren't. This version of Gordon hitting 40% of his threes is literally the ideal match for Isaac because Gordon is built to handle the heavier stronger opponents where Isaac isn't. And Isaac covers a bunch of Gordon's weaknesses. And it sets up a situation where if Gordon is defended by 3s he can take guys to the rim but if they decide to put their 3 on Isaac he can get to his spots and shoot over them as a 6'6, 6'7 guy typically can't contest his release. Neither guy is "better at the 4". Both are just mismatch hunters who need spacing to make that happen.

We're not going to lose many games where the bench gives us 40

Nah. I don't think this style works in the playoffs when they allow more contact

It's like a guy in the park who constantly calls foul when the rules are call your own foul. There's an honor system he's violating
