There was no way to provide Dame a winning team. This was inevitable.
-
Yeah but money is being thrown around like crazy right now. Their rebuild is ahead of schedule as they already got Scoot, who also happens to be Dames replacement so tanking really isn’t necessary. Plus what they get for Dame. There’s a real possibility that they rebound quickly from this and become competitive faster than some teams who’ve lost their star player.
-
That’s rebuilding and it’s not a bad spot to be. It could be a lot worse. They have quite a talent with Sharpe and a high ceiling high floor draft pick who’s labeled as a generational talent in Scoot. They also still have Simons.
-
They have Scoot/Sharpe. Grant will not be number 1.
-
The FA to me was exactly how I figured it would/should go. My issue is how the roster is currently constructed if no trade is to occur along with the potential disaster that could happen with an FO that spends a lot of time evaluating when they should be proactive.
-
It’s a log jam. You’re admitting that in chapter 4. For chapter 1, I disagree that sending guys you drafted 6 and 11 to the g league is a good thing. BTW I’m not negative. I just don’t think some of y’all seeing the potential disaster that awaits if we don’t make a move with this log jam. There are two sides to a coin and y’all are rationalizing one. Awesome but don’t forget there’s another side and it’s one I’m afraid we might be headed towards.
-
No it’s a log jam.

Harris isn’t a SF. Ingles isn’t a PF. Depth chart is PG Fultz/Cole/Black SG Harris/ Suggs/Jett/Houstan SF Franz/Ingles/Jett PF Paolo/Ji/Okeke C WCJ/? If we don’t make a trade to loosen up that backcourt a little, it’s one of the most dysfunctional rosters I think one could build around Paolo/Franz
-
Don’t think it’s the signing that bothers folks. It’s the severe log jam with the ol running it back gang that’s just got some shaking their head at.
-
Some of y’all have a really hard time letting go of him.
-
Yeah I’m a sixers fan Been a long time contributor to this board. A Orlando native who’s been watching the Magic since 89 and ready to get away from treadmill status.
-
Not good enough to handcuff ourselves to the notion he’s untouchable.
-
Lol one game above 500 and it’s done. Ok. I’m sold lol Couldn’t that because of continuity, Paolo, Franz? Does that all really point toward Fultz despite statistically not being the leader and not being vocal?
-
Guess who had a better offensive and defensive rating than Fultz?
-
Yeah you can because most professional analysts have done it for you. Plus you have stats and all kinds of data at your fingertips.
-
Markell has this hidden leadership skill that I’m not seeing so that’s why we keep him? Can’t you make an argument for any of the guards and their “leadership”? Hasn’t Cole always been the hype man who plays with a chip on his shoulder? Isn’t Suggs a clutch player who brings no s such defensive intensity that it motivates others, also vocal a leader? What is this hidden powerful leadership trait that Markelle isn’t showing but some of y’all swear by?
-
That’s the million dollar question. Right now you have Fultz, Cole and Black. Two PG’s who aren’t spreading your floor consistently enough atm and another who can but lacks consistency in other areas. At SG you have a defensive minded combo guard who’s inconsistent from outside, not the best at handling the ball and another who only does one thing above average and that’s hit wide open uncontested 3’s. I would say you upgrade that two guard spot with someone you know that fits alongside Paolo/Franz and can spread the floor and make good decisions with the ball if the shot isn’t falling.
-
How much better do you really think he can be? How much better of a fit next to Paolo/Franz can he be?
-
Go do the homework and see for yourself. Everything he does isn’t elite. He’s not an elite passer. Not elite defensively and can’t spread the floor. An pg who can’t spread the floor are becoming useless in modern day NBA.
-
He’s not even a top 20 starting PG in the league. His versatility is overrated. Magic fans cling onto him because we haven’t anything close to a serviceable PG in some time. Still riding on potential. He’s been in the league for 7 years.
-
We drafted a point guard. One that is similar to what we have with the hope he can become more. We need to start building around Paolo/Franz. In a blink of an eye we’ll be looking at contracts for those two. We know what Fultz is. We’ve had a lot of time to figure it out. He’s a lower tier pg that doesn’t spread the floor IF he’s healthy. He’s also a UFA next year. He’s not going to be any more valuable then he is right now. Actually, his value could get worse as we approach the deadline. Tough decisions need to be made. You have a log jam in the backcourt that are technically bad fits along side our two young stars. I would say Cole is somewhat a better fit because at least he has shown commitment to taking/hitting outside shots but he isn’t the best defensive guard and sometimes has tunnel vision. You have FA that’s weak. A draft class that’s weak in 2024. You have not addressed the SL to where you’ve added pieces that helps Paolo/Franz’s growth. You can’t keep drafting bad fits with potential, keeping bad fits who have shown that they aren’t congruent with your core, and say you want to win at the same time. The time to choose a path is now.
-
I know this isn’t the popular opinion but I’m looking at trading Fultz this off season. Not Cole.
-
No I watch games that pinpoint the player offensively and defensively throughout the entire game. Some people don’t need a **** ton of data to make a call. Look I’m not interested into getting a pissing match about something that brings little value to me. Been around long enough to know what I know. If I’m wrong I’m wrong. It’s a message board full of opinions and predictions and speculations.

YouTube. I use that more than highlights because you can see the situation before the result. For instance yeah x player had two TO’s but in these clips you can see how those TO’s occurred. Was it because he read the play wrong, did the receiving player have butter fingers, or was it simply a bad pass?
-
Yeah it’s what I first thought as well and still thinking. I’ll stand by my gut that says we tried like hell to trade up for Scoot.
