  1. Here’s my thing. Black is a fine player. Plays defense, makes passes, good glue guy off the bench rn imo.

Look at our  backcourt...Fultz, Cole, Suggs and now Black with Gary Harris as our lone true starting 2 guard who outside of hitting a wide open three, is atrocious at pretty much everything else. Our backcourt was one of the worst offensively. It still is.

It’s a weak FA class this year. Next year’s draft is horrible. This draft for me was the last kick at the tires to bring in that last piece. I feel we failed in that regard. IMO we just prolonged the rebuild another year or two with this draft and it irks me.

I have to wonder if we would have gone with one of the Thompson twins should they have dropped. Whitmore dropping was the biggest hit to us as I believe we would have taken one of them over Ant Black. It felt like there was a clear top 5, similar to 2019 when we got Mo Bamba and the top 5 had JJJ, Luka; and Trae.

I'm hoping that tier distinction is wrong.

That’s what I’m wondering/concerned with. We didn’t get our guy.

    6. Orlando Magic - Anthony Black, G, Arkansasa

    Grade: B

Black is a huge 6’7 point guard with a strong lower body who offers immense defensive versatility. He isn’t yet a great shooter after hitting only 30 percent of his threes and 70 percent of his free throws during his one year at Arkansas. I’m skeptical he has enough juice off the dribble to truly be a lead guard. Orlando really needs to add some shooting now with Black joining Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner. A spacing crunch will be facing Orlando unless their core pieces all improve their jump shots. Either way, Black’s connective passing and switchable defense makes him the type of player every team needs in the playoffs

Yeah this is my feelings as well. I just don’t see a lead pg with him.

    Just sayin! hahaha

I’m actually warming up to the Ant pick quite a bit. The Jett one still confuses me.

I would be jumping for joy if I saw the passing that Penny had. I’m not seeing with Black. At least in any of the clips I’ve seen.

I’m going to reserve judgement on tonight’s draft. I’ve got plenty of recent evidence that shows me our guys know what they’re doing. In the positionless era we’re in there’s nothing saying we couldn’t have 3 of Jett, Black, Fultz, Cole, Jalen on the floor at once. Curious to see what if anything we do in FA.

Yeah but I got evidence that’s not always the case.

Bro …I’ve got a vid of Antonio Reeves …he’s a backup 2 guard for UK …when we played Black and Arky he had to play 40 minutes at PG cause both our guys were injured …he went off for 37 points …all this defense talk with him …he’s in the vid a lot and I would share it but I think the mood here is already sour enough

Nothing pops out with this kid. I hear IQ. Dude made simple ass plays and had some piss poor turnovers.

Only thing I can think of is they couldn’t get a deal done for Scoot abs who was left got drafted before they picked and just said F it.

That didn't work because neither does enough off ball to be effective though. Lamelo is a terrific shooter and has positional size to play up a position (and honestly would probably benefit from not having to defend smaller quicker guards)

Maybe. I just think you’re better off with Miller.

You could say the same about LeBron and Wade. Brown and Tatum. Kawhi and PG.

You're over thinking it. No player in the history of the game shoulders the offensive load on every possession of the game. There's more than enough possessions for them to both take turns on ball, they can also stagger their minutes so they have 1 on the court at all times. Having multiple guys who can create for themselves and others is a good thing not a bad thing.

Not really. LeBron is more of a Pg than Wade was.

It’s more like Westbrook and LeBron. That didn’t work because both absolutely need the ball more times than not.

Scoot and Lamelo can quite easily coexist on the court because Lamelo is an awesome off ball shooter.

There is virtually no overlap with Brandon Miller and Jerami Grant. Jerami Grant has played over 80% of his career minutes at the 4, Miller is a 3.

Yeah but Lamelo thrives as a ball dominate playmaker. So does Scoot. You’d be stiffening ones talent doing this.

I think Miller actually fits in better with both teams with how they are currently constructed, but I think Scoot at the end of the day will be a better player.

I don't see LaMelo and Scott fitting well together at all, on or off court. If you want personality examples, I think it goes about as well as Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant.

Yeah it’s not a good fit. Both are floor generals. You have to move one.

Vassell is a perfect fit for our starting lineup.

his upside isn’t as high as Ausars, that’s for sure..

id change it up and do Vassell for Okeke 11th pick and 2024 Top 5 protected pick

There’s a possibly this will be the last time we’ll be picking this high in the foreseeable future. Hopefully at least. I want an high upside guy coming out of this draft.
