Finally, one intriguing dark horse candidate is the Magic, who also have a strong frontcourt, and for whom any amount of competent point guard play would be a massive change of pace. The last Magic player to average at least 20 points and five assists per game was Steve Francis, 19 years ago. Orlando projects for copious cap space after this season but could slot Murray in and still have money left over for further summer upgrades. From The Ringer about Murray. Also on The Lowe Post today Bobby Marks talks about The Magic and our situation. We are the second team they talk about. We have 5 first round picks that can be traded and 12 second round picks!

I can’t believe he is averaging 24 pts 7 assist. He only has one more year on his contract after this season. He does make a lot though so it would cost a few contracts. I’ve never been a huge fan of his but he does bring a lot of experience and is a good shooter.
-
If that the price I’d do it. It’s low risk and it won’t cost much.
-
Haha I was thinking the same thing. A showcase game.
-
Great find Junkie. Lets make a move!
-
That’s my move also. Brogdon fits us perfectly.

That was a longtime ago. It’s hard for a small market to team to sign a big time free agent like T-Mac and Hill. Maybe a huge Rasheed Lewis overpay is still possible. He fit for sure and I loved Lewis but that was an overpay at the time even. The league has changed a lot. Free agency is for the bench players for Orlando which is important of course.

Love the T-Mac thing. Haha
-
He sure did. Love this team.
-
OT is tough without Suggs.
-
Marcus Smart with a better jumper and much more likable.
-
Fultz looked better that quarter. But still hasn’t scored.
-
I get it and you’re right about beating Atlanta.
-
Just wanted to point out again to you the schedule lightens up as you’ve said this many many times. This should be the time when we lose especially with these injuries. i remember Junkie lol
-
Him and Harden for me.
-
CT and I were talking about this earlier. Talkathon says we have the easiest strength of schedule in the league after January. We do need this one though for sure.
-
His career is in jeopardy honestly. I feel so bad right now. I’m sure they have been treating it for weeks.
-
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. He exacerbated his old injury.
-
Oh no his TOS is back for real. He has a legit shoulder problem again. Poor Fultz I always root for him.
-
Fultz is in let’s see what he’s got.

I think it’s hard to get people to Orlando and there aren’t a lot of Free Agents. Maybe you’re right but we also have to let a lot of guys walk that need to be replaced. Free agency isn’t the way to go in my opinion for any real impact guys. I get your points but I just think recent history shows how hard free agency can be. Would you want to do what Houston did last summer? It is working for them. I was a hard no on Vanfleet for example. But it was short term money. In the distant past I was more of a free agency guy but I am now more of a trade and extend or resign players guy for team building. Especially since I’d rather have veterans than draft more young players and have to pay them. Tell me who Orlando could realistically get in free agency? That might help our discussion.
-
I no your not saying these guys necessarily but I feel we would have to overpay all of them. There are very few free agents this year. I would like at least one more good guard to compliment Paulo and Franz moving forward. For example why sign Tyus Jones (I think I remember your not a fan) assuming you let Fultz walk for nothing when you can go get a Brogdon or even pay more for a Simmons right now? I am not asking for Mitchell or something huge like that would be. Are you a fan CT of keeping all 3 draft picks the next two years out of curiosity?

Since we started talking free agency a bit I found this list of free agents this summer. Not great my friends to be honest. If we want very fringe bench players there are a few. I am with Danny Ainge on Cap Space in todays NBA. Trading is a lot easier for your guy to me. https://hoopshype.com/lists/2024-nba-free-agent-rankings/

You convinced me with the character issue stuff earlier so this is more of a thought exercise. I don’t agree that Murray wouldn’t be a good basketball fit. He has been playing with Trae Young as a shooting guard. Trae is so hard to play with in my opinion and has locker room issues himself that our well documented. Bogdnovich would give us the shooter we covet though he is older than I thought (31 yo). I would start Suggs and Murray while bringing Cole and Bogdoovich off the bench. What a great defensive backcourt that would be. I’d love Monk as well though I’d only give Orlando a 10% chance of signing him. He gets along so well with Fox and they seem to love him in Sacramento. Its really hard to get free agents and you almost always have to overpay to get them.

Look at CT brining logic and patience to the discussion as always. There would be some fans that would be angry but most are not matter what our franchise does. (SHOOTING, this franchise never does this blah blah, etc) The strength of schedule is a big one that needs to be stressed. We are in the hardest part of the year right now. Junkie gives daily updates on how close we are to 8th. I think if Franz and Paolo are healthy we can have a strong push after The All Star Break and land between 5-6 without trades. Making The Play Offs is a must for me personally. A PG or just a healthy Fultz (I’ve given up on this) would solidify our run. From a team building aspect it would make more sense to me to trade for a rotation piece this year. We have so many expiring contracts and don’t need three draft picks the next two years we have to develop. Jett and AB look like they will take awhile already for example. It’s harder to sign impact free agents these days also. But I see the other side like you wrote.
