Yeah, the Cole hate is wild. Without him, we lose by 20+ last night.

You have to understand that it is not Cole hate. (At least from me)   I love him as a 6 or 7th man coming off of the bench and injecting a spark of energy.

I am also ok with keeping him in the game longer if he is playing smart and hitting when he shoots..

I dont think he is consistent enough to be either a starting point guard, or in at the end.

That is what I responded to. The desire to let him start.   And I even said that I am ok with him moving to starting for the rest of this year,

But I dont think he is a long term answer as a starting (or finishing) point guard.

And yes, as JJZFL said, in this game he was no worse than anyone else.

FOR NO REASON, THE STAGE LAST NIGHT SEEMED TOO BIG FOR THE MAGIC.........NOT FOR COLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MIGHT BE TIME TO INSERT HIM AS A STARTER.....AT THE END OF THE DAY THE STARTERS ARE THE PLAYERS THAT TEAMS RELY TO WIN GAMES.

TEAM NEEDS A PG THAT CAN CREATE ASSITS (5 PER GAME / 36 MPG), SCORE, SHOOT 3'S, REBOUND AND REFIEF PAOLO OF HANDLING THE BALL SO MUCH.

Agree about Your first statement, disagree about Cole    If You watch him in clutch time, he never even looks for anyone else. Yes he had an amazing game, and often does, but just as often shoots us out of the game.    The final seconds of the Kings game was as much about him playing hero ball as to trying to get a win.

Dont mind if he starts the rest of the year, or we give AB a bit of burn, but for the future...

Yes, we need the point guard that You describe     To me, Cole is not him.

10/20 from FT will *not* get it done.  How is something so basic so hard for this team??

This was a very difficult game to watch tonight.   Not only our lack of execution of the fundamentals but the unbelievable fan presence for GS

how does that happen?   Felt like a Boston or NY game interns of fan reaction.   And yes FT were awful. as were mid range game and basic defense.

I dont know if the long lay off hurt us but something did :(

We’re actually shooting the three ball better than Golden State, although that’s not saying much.  Golden State 3-18 from three, we’re 4-17.  Its shots closer to the basket that we’re inexplicably missing tonight.  Might be partly due to the layoff.  Whole team looks sluggish.

I agree    we are not getting beat on the 3 tonight    out hustled   free throws    mid range game

The Magic has 11 games left in the regular season.

You all know that I am a huge, diehard Magic fan. Now hear me out.

In looking at the teams we play in the remaining 11 games of the regular season, my opinion is the Magic will lose 9 of them. Look at the schedule.

If the Magic players try to play iso instead of moving the ball around to find the open teammate, we are going to be in a lot of trouble. We need to play at a faster pace and make our free throws. Lastly, the coach needs to make better rotations.

Other teams are going to take advantage, scoring wise, if the Magic chuck too many 3s and they are not falling.

What do you think?      I HOPE WE WIN 9 GAMES OUT OF 11!

im guessing 6-5   lose the next 2 and the last 3     win in between     but could easily be 9-2 or 2-9   depends who who shows up

  6. Hey Fan, I am a huge Markelle fan, and even if he does not improve beyond a playable back up, I still want him back  NOT pushing to move him.  And I would love to be proven wrong, but my eye test ( which I know that You prefer to stats ) is not looking good. Most of his jumpers are short. There is still a bit of a hitch, and more, the last game he missed at least 2 of those under the basket reverses that are usually his bread and butter.     Like I said, nothing would make me happier than to be wrong and to see him improve. But am trying to asses what he is worth if he does not.   (Love ya anyway fan, even though we disagree, lol)

  7. I think if we keep Markelle, he begins the season as PG for second unit as AB transitions into the role.  And I agree, by midseason, Markelle is more player coach and 3rd string.   Can he find a bigger role with another team, maybe. But will it just makes his flaws and injury history even more of an issue?  I dont know. I'll say again, if he is happy with the vet min and transitioning to the player/coach role, more than happy to keep him.    He might just surprise us with a burst here or there as well, but not a thing to gamble on any more.

Markelle is great for the locker room, and chemistry. He’s also a great calming influence for such a young team. What it comes down to is his strengths are redundant with players that are better than him. He’s gonna sign with someone like San Antonio that can surround him in a lineup with 5 shooters and he’ll have a career as an oft injured backup. I fully expect him gone this off-season. He just doesn’t fit anymore, we need guards that can shoot.

I would not be surprised. Yes he played well last night. But not up to what was expected.  If he will accept a vet minimum and we have space, would love to keep him for all the reasons that You state. But would not be surprised if he is let walk.

  9. Yes   the Magic have moved beyond Fultz in any statistically meaningful way.  Unless he takes a vet minimum i see us letting him walk this summer.  But I also would not be upset if he did stay at that minimum  for the reasons You state toward the end.   Off the bench Vet minimum

Heat and Pacers won, which isn’t ideal, but also the Cavs and Bucks lost. So allow me to dream for a second. We’re only 2 games out of the 3 seed and 3 games back of the 2 seed. We play Milwaukee 2 more times

As long as we take care of buisness, its probably good that the heat beat the cavs.   But it is pretty scary how no matter the odds stacked against them, the heat keep pulling these games out

Feels like coach is the last one that hasn’t given up on Markelle yet. Hate to say it as a huge fan of his personally, but he’s done

Yeah   i agree   big fan but he has lost it    but ... he also is not given any time.    so was curious if it is just coach finally giving up or match ups or what

There are nba players that are good at driving hard into the paint, bullying their way to the basket for a layup and are successful. Giannis and LeBron are good at it.

JJZL and someone else on this board have said it before how Paolo and Franz have tried it so many times, driving to the basket with a crowd of players on the other team surrounding them under the basket, and most of the time preventing them from scoring.

Other teams look at our tapes and know how to defend us because they know that we are not good at 3pt. shooting, rely too much on Franz and Paolo to do the scoring, and most of it comes from inside the paint. We need to run and stop walking the ball up the court allowing the other team to get in defensive position; also, we need to move the ball more to find an open man, instead of 4 players standing around watching 1.

Really agree on 2 fronts    we bring the ball up too slowly    even Markelle our only true point guard     then when the ball does get up, often everyone stands around and watches paolo and/or Franz ... of course this does not always happen but often enough for other teams to plan for.

7th is in the play in. It's not missing anything.

Yeah  sorry if i was not clear, i understand the play in. I meant just missing being in without the play in.   I'm predicting same record as sixers for 7/8  and miami and pacers 1 game better, tied for 5/6    and knicks holding 4th   so still really tight ... as i said, an unexpected win or loss by us (or any of the other 4) and it could easily shift.  and as others have said if we can avoid NY, Boston or Miami we have a great chance to get out of the first round.    Exciting to be thinking about this stuff instead of draft position  lol
