2019-2020 Official Regular Season Thread

Is it the tweaks Clifford did with our offense and Vooch being further away from the basket the reason why? It seems he is uncomfortable and is even having trouble with the bread and butter shots he had before. -

I just don't understand this basketball stuff and how to build a team, etc. On the whole, I am pretty ignorant because I didn't play. It's way beyond my mental processing ability. If it were me, I would go BPA all the way, every draft, and find a team need (like a rim protector) another way. Teams passed up Kobe, Jordon, Trae Young, etc. and I just don't get it. You all are much smarter than I am. The little details with basketball are more than I can comprehend. I still enjoy watching it though. :-) -

I don't like that he is in the contest, but DAMN! that is an awesome pic! The dude's a physical marvel at 6'8 235lbs. That takes some serious strength there. -

Although I have resisted the thought of trading AG, I am starting to come around. The guy at the Ringer is making some sense. Maybe a change of scenery would be better for both him and the Magic. I like the thought of RoCo and Culver. Hope we can do it. -

I get that AG likes to compete and entertain. However, I would rather he spend his spare time practicing shots that matter in a game, not acrobatic dunks for a contest. Do we want to win games and finish the season strong or what? Note: I know my avatar is AG from the dunk contest, but I believe this year it is more important to try and turn things around. Our team is disjointed and the only way to get back on track is through practice. -

Not talking about a trade or not, but I am thankful our guys get a break. They need to rest and regroup. The Heat may have won in Miami, but they are getting whooped Saturday night. :-D -

How disappointing. At least with the lottery, we have a small chance to get lucky. The way we are going we will never get out of the quagmire we are in. [sigh] -

I am talking about lately and his decision making, etc. He must be feeling better and the extra work he is putting in is probably helping. I would not give up on him yet. -

I wouldn't say superstar, but I would say that AG is starting to hold his own. I could be wrong, but it is looking like he is starting to figure things out a little bit. His shot selection has been better these last few games, he isn't trying to do too much, and at times he is imposing his will around the basket. If the trend continues he could be a vital piece for us moving forward, imo. The guys I don't want to trade are JI, AG, and Fultz. I am giving Bamba a pass this year. -

Since we have a bunch of role players, shouldn't the question be who makes (or will make) the players around them better, Fultz or Ja? -

Has anything changed? Does Weltman have complete control, or is Martins interfering? -

What if we switched Ross and Fournier's roles and have Fournier coming off the bench? -

I thought they played better as a team last night, which is how I think we will be more productive. When our guys get into iso mode we get into trouble. Team mode, and let the game come to them leads to easier shots. Defense in 2nd half seemed much better and helped us ice the game. I thought it was a nice win. -

It's been a long road trip. Not making excuses, but these guys are probably waiting on their 2nd wind. Maybe after they get the blood flowing a little bit... -

I am not necessarily disagreeing with you. He seems like he wants to win and has a lot of confidence that he is the guy to do it. I can’t really be upset with that. It could be worse- like the opposite. However, maybe they are asking him to distribute the ball more and he doesn’t. Although I do think we need a star ( one who can consistently create their own shot, etc.), I still believe team basketball will get us further with the right guys and chemistry. Stars are a hard thing to come by ( and keep long term) in a small market city ( nba standards) like Orlando, IMO. -

No expert here, so I can agree to disagree, but if Fournier is just trying to pad his stats then he is making it all about him ( and his upcoming contract) and not about the team, right? Of course he is trying to win, so I wouldn’t say he is padding his stats, just a guy doing his best and trying to win, but I would say that I would like to see more team ball with us moving the ball better to help create easier shots. I also would like to see more cutters when Fultz makes his way into the paint and the defense cuts him off. Note: just some thoughts, not saying I know everything and have all the answers. :-) -

I see your point. However, if I remember correctly, didn't we have AG at SF when he had one of his best shooting nights? Maybe we are hindering AG's development by playing him at PF. Now, that may screw up JI when he comes back, but I think we need to see what we have in AG, too. -

Nothing against Fournier, Vooch or any of the guys. I think it's a chemistry thing this year. Last year we had it. Guys were playing for each other. We moved the ball and did well. This year it seems more like it's all about individual play. If we had Michael Jordan then yeah I get it, but our guys need each other to do well. -

I know it takes a while for guys to get used to each other especially since we have had our fair share of injuries. However, our core guys should be pretty comfortable with each other by now. So, why are we still having long stretches where our offense peters out? What's up? Is this on Fultz or the rest of our guys? Now, don't get me wrong. I am very happy with Fultz. I am just curious as to why he seems to be in a situation where he has to do it all. I also am giving him sort of a pass because he really hasn't played much basketball since he has come into the league and I am willing to be patient with him and let him grow and develop. If this is Fultz and JI's team going forward, do we have the right guys for Fultz's playing style? Are we seeing two different offenses? One with Fournier/Vooch, the other with Fultz? Versatility is good, but could this be why our offense is so disjointed sometimes? Sorry to ramble. Not really complaining. Just curious, that's all. -

As just a casual observation and totally uneducated view, I think it will be interesting to see how both Fultz and AG develop with their 3's. Comparing the two, I think with AG, the issue is between his ears. Most of the time, he squares himself up, and his shot looks great from a physical standpoint, but his mind is not calm, so he overcompensates. Fultz, however, seems to be the opposite. He has shown he is patient and calm under pressure, but the physical side of things is off. I think they will both get there; it's just going to be a different journey for each. -

I had to wait until this morning. No rush and was able to watch the whole thing. I really enjoyed the total team effort and contribution we got from Clark. Major props to Fultz and AG! Coach Cliff did a great job with the rotations, too.
