He was awesome in the finals last year. I think he knows he is not a number 1.

Yeah he is the next guy up that could make us a real contender. Bunch of red flags but on talent alone the best player and fit that could possibly be available. It's as simple as him telling the Celtics he will not re-sign. Now what makes me sad is no player actually goes for free agency. What his people would do is tell the Celtics before this season and hope they can steer a trade to the right team. Or pretend to be a good boy, sign the huge ridiculous extension and then wait the required time by league rules to request the trade again. The second option is what is ruining the league. Simply because you have send a haul of picks and players gutting your team to pay a guy 40-50 million a year. In the old days Jaylen would simply play this next year and be a free agent. No player does this anymore. It's killing the league. I might want Beal or even better Lilliard but the trade and cost will kill your team.

Also, since you brought it up remember Jokic as you think about Draft pick positions. Sure many of you will think they were lucky, and they were. The point is this is not a video game or set in stone. We don't know yet who is going to be the best players from this draft, or even decent players. Some will flat out suck. Others will lack the athleticism to play with NBA players. Some will always be injured. Some will have skills but never really work to improve. Some won't have BBIQ at all and just be dunkers and runners, can't shoot. It's up to management do workouts and interviews. So yeah i get you already know this but don't get caught up in mock draft positions. Just because they tell you Scoot is gonna be awesome doesn't mean he will be. Just because 5 NBA fan sites are saying Dick is the guy doesn't mean diddly. We just did this last year and all talked ourselves into Smith.

He was interviewed during the afternoon sports broadcast of in the zone. If you don't already know just go on I heart radio 96.9 the game and try the in the zone subchannel. I'm pretty hype, go Magic!

Now that is a player you trade Victor for. I would do that in a heartbeat.

You had me in the first half. Kerr is another Jackson, it's more about the players. Anyhow it's time for me to overreact to the most recent games. What do you all think about Bruce Brown? He had a great game for the Nuggets the other night and is really good on defense. Supposedly he is gonna opt out and due to some weird rules the Nuggets can only increase his salary as a percentage of what he already makes. He would fit right into the squad and can hit the open 3 and play defense. Perfect glue guy? Actually after some review, he is just Gary Harris lite. https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm_finder.cgi?player_id2=harriga01&player_id1=brownbr01&sum=0&request=1&utm_campaign=2023_01_wdgt_player_comparison&utm_source=bbr&utm_medium=sr_xsite&utm_id=brownbr01 Seems to be following Gary's trajectory without the nagging injuries.

Tons of guys getting paid in the NBA to not do much. I guess what i meant was at least Simons has a thing which is true 3 point threat. His stats are legit and he is young. Poole actually has the better numbers per 36 but most of it was when Curry was out and his 3 point shooting is proving to be a mirage. Another volume scorer who is inefficient and not clutch. Coming back around to the Magic everyone says we need shooting so i brought up Simons just in case the Blazers blow it up. However, yes he is a bit too much money and for a year longer then i would like. Also i think i would rather watch Lakers play the Nuggets so screw the Warriors. Hope they lose.

Screw Poole. He is a Volume scorer but if we going to get a shooting guard get Simons. He is a real deep threat, just can't do much else.

Inject that in my veins but that team would struggle defensively.

Yeah, Poole was a bad overpay and a good lesson going forward for many teams. Capped teams feel pinched. They feel if they don't pay up there is no way to keep a player. I say let them get an offer first. Nobody was gonna pay Poole 30 million. Anfernee Simons is the closest comparison and he is better and cheaper.

Meanwhile Gordon's defense looks pretty mediocre this series and he still loses people on plays too easily. Also i watched the game and can't believe he only got 3 rebounds. Ross did a little work. Bamba on the bench and Evan about to get another DNP tonight. Our former players are soft.

Why does everyone always talk about the number one pick every year like the player is preordained to be a hall of famer. If a team could trade Wemby for an already established star of course you think about it. Do i think the Magic would trade him? No i do not but since we are just talking hypothetical trades you can't just say he is untouchable. He could be the next Zion, great player but always hurt. He could be like KAT. Super talented but no heart, not a winner. He could even be like Ben Simmons. Comes into the league but isn't really interested in getting better or playing ball. No player is a guarantee and the hype with Wemby is a little silly if you ask me.

I mostly meant do not expect something big to happen like a major trade. I can see them spending some money though. If it's at a price they like.

Well then prepare to be underwhelmed, that sounds about right for this front office.

    2022-2023 Draft Thread

Me too. If we stay where we are i cannot see our front office passing on one of the three forwards that might still be on the board. It's just the way they operate. So forward at number 6 or 7 an then whoever is left at 11, which could be Dick. Think about where we are, Fultz had his best year,Cole had his best year. Harris is cheap and Suggs could still be the future. All the best free agent options are guards. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/wizards/2023-nba-mock-draft-70-lottery-odds-are-set This is my favorite result in one of the many mock drafts. Jarace has a lot going for him including already having an NBA body. What he does is more projectable in the NBA. Those were two things you could say about Paolo last year. Paolo,Franz and WCJ are more offense oriented anyway, we need a banger. He is the best in a draft that has few guys like him. I get that everyone wants offense but for once i think the players already on the roster will improve in that area. The second player in this Mock is Cason Wallace. I have already said i love the film on the guy and love mythos behind Kentucky guards.

If you think about it,Tobias,Vuch,Oladipo and Gordon are the only players that did anything at all after they left the Magic. That's ten years worth of players. Most of the others weren't even real rotation players on other teams. Oh they played a bit but most wound up on the bench and barely got any playing time like Ross and Fournier. Somewhere there is a universe in which we don't draft Elfrid Payton and somehow have a real point guard and get to see all 4 of those guys play together for more then the Skiles year. I

The problem with Dick is he could be that tweener guy. It's on the team seeing what he has during his workouts. If it was just about shooting the guy from Santa Clara would be top ten, especially after Jalen Williams did so well this year. Branden Podziemski is the name. Or National champion Jordon Hawkins. Dick is bigger and stronger but is he quick enough to guard 2's or strong enough to guard 3's? Also from the other post who is GG Jackson? Has to be a mistake right?

Yeah i watched the game, he is not a smart player.Lot's of turnovers and just flat out low BBIQ. Have to say that it sucks they can't get Fournier in there for a few minutes. Not a fan of either team but i sure don't want the Heat to advance.

Yeah he is looking bad out there. In other news, Bamba got a few garbage minutes. It's a little early to say but i don't think they pick up his option. He hasn't really done much since he got there. Both his and Malik Beasley have non guaranteed contracts. Together those contracts are about 27 million dollars. Can easily see them dropping both. They absolutely need to keep Russell,Hachimura and Reeves. Those 3 together are going to cost over 60 million. They will fill out the roster with whoever will play for the minimum.

Bane would have been a good get, but they will match whatever. Brogdon has been sneaky good in Boston, wish we could have gotten him. Maybe they feel the money crunch re-signing Brown and try to slim down the payroll, but i can't see them not running this same team back one more year. Edit. After thinking about it a team like Boston could potentially want to add youth and save money. Let's say they love a player we could get or do get at 11. We are one of a handful of teams that can absorb salary without sending back matching salary, so rookie for vet is possible for us and makes sense. In fact i would guess they trade one of White or Brogdon this summer to save money.
