    2024 NBA Trade Deadline Thread

Should have got a shooter at least. I won't even mention for the 50th time how we haven't had a good point guard since Jameer. Oh wait i mentioned it.

Well, we all knew it. I see 3 positives. The players i really wanted did not get moved. Can't make a huge mistake if you make no moves. The team is mostly healthy so our record in the second half should be better anyhow. Now they can redeem themselves in the summer. Would have been easier to make a trade, look how much Houston overpaid last year with cap space.

We don't need a Young. Anyone can see we have the makings of 3 all-stars in Wagner,Suggs and Banchero. We just need make shrewd trades for the next White,Brown,Caruso or other high end role players. God forbid we really get lucky and pick up a Lopez or Middleton when anyone could have had them, just like the Bucks did many years ago.

i feel so bad about that injury because he really is a force of nature. If the Magic stay healthy i can see us moving up in the standings, but nothing is a given. It's just logical. We are over 500, as healthy a team as any right now, and the schedule is going to be easier moving forward. Still we should make a trade unless nothing is out there. I don't think Murray is the one but mostly because his extension has just begun. Brogdon just makes too much sense. If we don't even pick up Tyus or someone like him i will view it as a failed deadline, either way i expect us to win more games after the break. I was able to watch several games this past week, love our team! Go Magic! I just want to see the offense unlocked a bit more.

I love all the posts this week. Usually at this time every year it's about trading away players for draft picks and getting ready to watch tankathon. So we had two years we were trying to make the playoffs and one year we actually sold low on some players(except Vooch, stupid bulls!). This is way better, unless we don't make a move.

No, many of these trades are just because they are making the player happy and getting something back. Probably a couple more teams interested but the Heat deal was the easiest. 3 things stand out a little. Trade was same division, and Scary Terry has 2 more years after this one. I guess Charlotte isn't worried about playing against him two more years. Terry is not a Heat guy defensively, but they need offense anywhere they can get it. I know a team like that! And lastly the Heat need to maximize Jimmy's last few years, so cap space is not an issue. I don't see us going for a player with more then this year and next on a contract. Anyhow, the Heat again showed they are willing to try to improve. They might not have won a chip since LeBron left but they have been infinitely better then most of the league. Hope we do something.

Murray is too expensive and represents everything our front office doesn't do. His extension kicks in this year and runs for 4 years, when we have to pay Suggs, both Wagners and Paolo! The other guys with expiring or two years left are just right for our timeline. We need get into the playoffs and start getting our guys used to winning. We might not make it without a change. Anyone can see that Paolo is the real deal and we do have talent around him. We just need to get consolidate our depth. Having an actual point guard is something we have needed for ten freaking years! instead we have had combo guards(Suggs,Cole,Dipo,Elfrid and a back-up point guard who had one career year in Dj Augustin. Can we get a freaking point guard? I mean Fultz should have been it, he is a point guard and we do play alot better when he is on the court. He just hardly ever plays and can't shoot! Management owes us a point guard.

I actually believe they were going to draft Cason Wallace and Presti moved up and swiped him. Then they went with the nepotism pick with Jett. At the moment it seems like we should have drafted Hawkins,Podziemski or even Keyonte George. First two were the best shooters in the draft and George was mocked to us in the super early mock drafts mid college season. Thing is with draft picks a lot of the role players wind up being just a guy later on in their careers and players like Anthony and Keyonte become bona fide starters. Jett is a tall shooter so if he can defend at all in the NBA he will get a chance. If we get lucky he might be our current Dennis Scott, helping the Magic get to the Finals.

We really need to make a move for another ball handler, point guard and a shooter or one pretty good guy who does both. Brogdon,Tyus, whoever. I do see a sneaky opportunity in trading Isaac to the Spurs. I could see them thinking he would be a great fit next to Wemby. Also his off the court stuff would be better suited to Texas. No doubt Isaac is a game changer, we just saw it the other night. So if the front office wants to keep him for one more year i don't blame them. His contract expires right when we have to pay Suggs and the two Wagners.

In the end the only real health lottery ticket is Isaac. He was the only real game changing talent we drafted that might have been all NBA if he stayed healthy. Fultz is cool, Fultz has some game but he really is a bust and will go down as a bust. Even when healthy he has no real shooting and he isn't some savant play maker either. Fultz was worth taking a chance on but his contract is about to expire. You literally only keep him if he is paid like a back-up. He has had two contracts to shed the bust label. I mean at best let him go to another team that has a great staff like the Spurs. Maybe he can have a second career like Grant Hill did on the Suns. Same with Gary Harris. Gary is cool, Gary has skills, Gary can't stay on the floor, send him away! Plenty of overlooked guys, guys who were considered throw in trades who at least go nuclear sometimes and play more then our guys. Some even play great! Players like Tim Hardaway jr.,Reggie Jackson,Jordon Clarkson,Bogdon. Other playoff teams to non play off teams get these secondary guys who at least make a difference sometimes. We get guys like Gary Harris and other players who cannot even stay in the rotation for a full season. Yes if Gary played like he does every year for that one month he is good he would be these other guys, but he can't! Let's go out and get somebody.

While it's fun to watch the standings it's Irrelevant before the all-star game. What is good about this year is we are finally a good team with actual all-star type players(sorry Vuch). If we have more injury luck then other teams the second half i expect us to win more games then we lose. Simple as that, we have talent now! Actually real NBA players! feels good. Actually got to watch the entire Nuggets game it was amazing and the Hawks win was huge! Tough week coming up just pray some guys get healed up.

Who did those teams add as actual free agents? Just curious. to me the biggest change in the NBA is hardly any players actually reach free agency and then pick a new team. It's all extensions and trades these days, which sucks. The magic are actually going to have money right before Suggs and Wagner sign their extensions. It would be nice to sign a mid tier free agent like a Malik Monk or get a great back up center like Hartenstein.

    2023-2024 Season Thread

The worst was Grant Hill. We actually had enough money to outright sign him but his agents wanted even more so they engineered the trade that sent Ben Wallace back. All that was just to squeeze out a few more million. Sign and trades were just getting into a full blown thing back then. We looked so smart saving money for two major free agents. And then let an obviously injured Grant Hill and his agents rake us over some coals. It allowed the Pistons to get a valuable piece towards their championship and was also seen aa aa favor to the Pistons. His agents "forced" the trade and the Pistons would get something. Nobody knew how good Ben would be back then. This was the start of players and agents basically having all the power, and they still do to this day. Think of all the bull**** power plays that have happened the last 15 years starting with the Celtics/Nets, and all the LeBron stuff and leading up to the OKC nightmares, Durant and Harden,Dame etc.............. TL;DR for all you youngsters the Magic had enough cap room to sign Grant Hill and McGrady. His agents forced a sign and trade even though he was injured.

Yeah Kispert and Tyus Jones would be fantastic. It's easy to always go for the bigger name like Brogdon. Tyus Jones kept Memphis winning whenever Ja was out, and when Ja was starting was a big reason why the bench was better then other teams. Paolo is gonna be a superstar, it's pretty obvious now. We need to bring in guys that fill the holes without breaking the bank because we are gonna have to pay Suggs and Wagner very, very soon.

Brogdon seems like just the combo guard we need, and he is, but Tyus is sneaky good too and having his best season from 3 this year.

    2023-2024 Season Thread

Huerter has been very inconsistent, just like our own starters. We need either a specialist who really knocks them down or an all around guy. Not another "potential" shooter. Obviously the dream is we actually go all in and get Anfernee Simons somehow. Since he is probably not available then a guy like Brogdon or Tyus Jones would be better. Brogdon will be traded at some point since they simply do not need him. Getting someone like him is just about deciding if we want to outbid the competition. Tyus Jones would be a better move. But the Wizards don't have to trade him, he is the only actual point guard on the roster and they just paid him. Other then that it's all on the management. They can easily go out and get somebody or just punt the deadline. Guys are available. Making the play in would be great for team development but i think we need to make a move to get there.

Well it's good to see a trade that makes some sense on paper. No zillion draft picks because OG is gonna opt out and has to be resigned. Mostly an exchange, one player who has years left for another who doesn't. How good is Quickley? I mean, yes they just played us. He is a small guard who shoots 3's. Seems a little better shooter then Cole but not as good distributor, maybe the same everything else? Anyway cool trade in that maybe it gets the ball rolling and normal trades start happening again.

Give the Bulls a pick for Caruso. Caruso plays defense, unlike DeRozan and Lavine, costs pennies on the dollar and is super clutch in the 4th quarter. Trade them Chuma and Caleb Houston. They need wings with size since Patrick Williams never really worked out for them.

No need to guess. Paolo is hurt and they are going to need Wendell's size. He will be back in the line-up one of the next two games. Markelle is a question, as always. He just needs to come back and play defense.

It really doesn't matter and it would have been fun for us as fans and for the players. But again, it really doesn't matter. Zach scoring two points is pathetic and it's really about culture. They didn't even try to put up a fight.

Hey since we are winning and Isaac looks great no need to speculate. However, what is the worth of a player who hasn't really played much in almost 4 years? The big thing about both Fultz and Isaac is they will need a 3rd contract soon. How do you pay players who weren't even worth the first two contracts they signed? Sounds harsh but it's true. In fairness, if they both spent most of the year healthy i could see them staying out of loyalty. Fact is most injury riddled players move to have a fresh start or a different medical team.

I mean guys as young as the Magic players simply don't have the experience to get it done in the playoffs or do not get the whistle. Best thing is to get into the playoffs just like Shaqs second season. Get some playoff reps then who knows. Sky is the limit. Seriously think 3 or 4 guys have all-star potential on this team. Lot's of talent....finally.

Is Mo Wagner the best contract in the NBA right now? LOL! It's easy to see why we are winning. The coaching is way better and the guys are hitting shots. But the big things are great team defense and ball movement compared to previous years. Team has unbelievable chemistry and since we have at least 9 guys who are actual NBA level players the bench is way better then most teams. EDIT; To elaborate on the last comment. For ten years the Magic had almost no All-star talent and maybe 2-2.5 actual starters on the team. The starters were mostly bench players starting and the bench was G-league at best. Now we have 2-4 guys who will be all-stars and starters on the bench! It's just that simple.
