    Two reflections:

    1. Raise your hand if you’re just glad our future doesn’t hinge on Elfrid Payton. [Soul raises hand]. Thank goodness that experiment is long gone.

    2. Count me as one who still believes our future centers around developing talent vs. trading for it. We need one or more of our young guys to take that leap, be it Fultz, Anthony or Okeke. Will one of them (or someone else) become the next Mitchell or Murray?

It's not about trading for talent. It's about trading the guys who are not apart of the future and are hindering the potential of the other guys.

Mitchell and Murray were afforded the ability to take over and be the guy. So long as Vuch and Fournier are here that won't be happening.

Vuc, Gordon, Isaac, Fournier, Ross and Birch may be the only long termers but they played the large majority of the minutes.   WeltHam may have changed much of the team but mostly the moves have consisted of changing out one inconsequential player for another.  No credit for that from my standpoint.

There does not appear to be any long term vision for making the team better.

I hope we see something significant out of Okeke or Cole because otherwise not only will we be worse than last year, but we’ll be even more boring.  Our lack of offense is pitiful.

    Couldn't agree more!

Can't lie. I kind of like the moves we made this off-season.

Would of liked Harkless over  Ennis, but I understand the move.

But with that being said, I think we'll be players at the trading deadline.

What moves? We just resigned everyone we already had.

Running back with this squad feels so stagnant. Don't think we reach the 8th spot this year.

If he signed for the veteran minimum, he will still make almost exactly what he was scheduled, but the team saves $400K against the salary cap/luxury tax threshold. It kind of looks to me like he did us a favor by opting out. Considering he started the last 23 games for us, and played fairly well in the playoffs I don't actually hate this move. A cheap veteran that plays with hustle and passion, who can hold down the SF position until/unless Okeke is ready to take it from him doesn't seem like a bad call.

I don't hate the move. I hate how vanilla we are. This team as currently constructed is 8th-10th seed. If that's the case bring in some young guys that can be apart of the future. The results won't be much different.

With that said if we decide to trade Vuch or Founier to actually start looking at the future then I have no complaints.

Outside of Issac, Herro arguably looks better than any player on our roster in terms of upside. At some point, we need to start drafting players with actual skills and not just measurements.

I agree. I just don't agree that Herro is more than a rotational wing player. That's exactly what he looks like.

He’ll be out the entirety of next season.  Nothing “overly cautious” about it.

There is a chance he will not be able to return at all but it’s fairly small.  There is a bigger chance that he returns but at a lesser level of performance.  I completely agree with Gordon MVPs take on this.

Overall, I find it hard to look at this team as currently constructed and find a lot of excitement for the future.  Always possible Bamba or Fultz will turn into something very special but at this point it’s a long shot.  Okeke seems like a solid role player to me if he pans out.

Our management is always overly cautious . So add a few months to whatever the actual timetable is.

Imagine if we played Isaac in a pointless scrimmage when he's not 100% ready, he did his ACL, missed all of next season, never came back with the same explosiveness and ruined his career. All to appease fans who "hate that we coddle young guys", all so he could be a "man".

Imagine paying some of the world's experts on maintaining player health, load management, conditioning etc and then actually taking advice from those people and not random fans who know nothing about the situation except what they read online.

Imagine we played Isaac during the first game of the season, while being 100%, and he tears his ACL, just to start the season 1-0. It's sports injuries can happen anytime.

The Isaac situation is different than the Fultz situation. They have continually mislead the fanbase about his injury as if we are a bunch of idiots.

If Fultz isn't ready he isn't ready. That doesn't change how overly cautious management has been. Which is fine but could also be considered a bit extreme.

    Thoughts on Isaac?

I think the org is Playing it safe to temper expectations, but the more I see him involved in the practices (and hopefully scrimmages)... I think there is a higher probability that he plays than we realize..

Yea just seems like our weird ass front office is being weird. 2 weeks ago he was not doing any contact practices and today he is doing 5 on 5 although on a limited basis. I'd bet he plays.
