Defense is largely built on effort. Especially for those who fit the physical requirements at their position. Coaching and defensive IQ are the other two facets that may affect a defender. Not having the ability to understand a defensive scheme is the single worst detriment a player can have because no matter how good the coach or how much ability they have they may never develop a strong enough understanding to reach their potential. I think a lot of that comes at a young age for players that weren't held accountable for their defensive lapses. Too add it isn't impossible to hide a bad defender if they are surrounded by good defenders.

I just don't see the point of trading AG unless it's a clear upgrade. Does replacing Fournier with a guy who may become fournier and lesser AG upgrade anything? I get we want more shots for Fultz and Isaac but why would we not just trade the guy who takes the most shots and is inconsistent as all hell on defense? The issue isn't AG it's Vuch.

These guys are professionals I'm not sure any of them would "play up" injuries while actively missing games and coming out of the locker room in a soft cast. I mean what would be the benefit?

Moves like this don't make sense unless our plan is to trade Vuch. The development of our young guys are hindered everytime he touches the floor. Culver would get like 5 shots a game if that here. Short term this would make us worse correct? If that's our plan now we should have never resigned Vuch. Why abandon the stay even while the young guys develop plan? Impatiently waiting for the keys being handed over around here.

What does Culver do that lends us to believe he's a Fournier replacement? He's a rookie so I'll take his stats with a grain of salt.

What's the point of a rental if we are all but pegged to be the 7th seed? If we make a move it should be for depth that cost us pennies or a move towards the future that cost us whatever the market is. Morris changes nothing for this team.

He's not even that good of a defender. He's ok. He's literally average at everything. Last year was fun but I hate that we have to rely on him this year.

That's not true. We risked very little to obtain Fultz. The Lakers risked very little to obtain AD. Rockets risked very little to get Harden. Raptors risked very little to get Kawhi. Plus a million more trades. You avoid mediocrity by making smart advantageous moves that don't hinder your ability to land the big fish while also improving the team.
