Yep, a lot of their fans have been wanting him to be gone and were worried he would opt in/ be resigned. I was more WTFing Cleveland. He can opt out, and if he opts in or they resign him, it is probably not a good thing for their team.

Drummond isn't really that good. Basically Vuch level. Great rebounder. Inconsistent defender. Only average efficiency for a guy that only does stuff around the rim. This just give an idea of Vuch's value.

Cleveland is trading for Drummond for some reason. Edit: for Brandon Knight, John Henson, Second rounder. Gives an idea of Vuch's value (not much).

He is often in the rumor mill, but not with anything concrete like "____ team is thinking of offering _____ for Vuch". It just feels like we have locked ourselves into being the team that we are, and it is difficult to feel excited about that, as it feels like the things that could make us exciting/different/competitive in the long run are being restricted. That doesn't mean it will/would work out without him, but just seemed time to move in that new direction.

I think resigning Vuch wasn't the smartest idea.

Didn't like either of the Magic trades listed under the Magic. The Denver trade would be interesting. We'd be buying low on Gary Harris and Malik Beasley. Also wouldn't mind taking Ed Davis and a second for Birch. Would force Bamba to be played more. We'd be adding a small amount of salary next year, but we would already be over the cap anyway. Davis hasn't been good this year, but maybe he can get back to being the solid back up big that he has been in the past.

At least statistically, he was fine in the golden state and charlotte games. I mean, he'd be a back-up. What really is our expectation here? He looks like a solid young guy that still has some room for improvement, and who can play some meaningful minutes.

Why wouldn't we add him to the roster full time? I thought he did fine for himself.
  9. The only player I could see us wanting is Robert Covington. DJ and Birch + a second for Covington, who says no? Though this puts us in the position of needing a back-up PG still.
  10. Fivethirtyeight has consistently been giving us around 85-90% chance to make the playoffs, even during our worst stretch (Right now they have us up to 95% chance!). The teams below us almost all have more difficult schedules than us for the second half of the season. We have been playing pretty consistent even with all of the injuries. I think some in the national media are labeling us as "on the bubble" because we probably are stuck in the 7-8 seed, so we aren't a contender or even the next step down. This is a weird season where teams are basically playoff teams or not. The only spot that seems really up for grabs is the final spot in the west.

I think AG has been disappointing to a lot of us. I've been hoping he would make the jump for a while now, which just doesn't seem to have happened. But it is pretty obvious that he has been playing through an injury at least over the past few games.

Why? They are actually (surprisingly) one of our best two man pairings (at least according to NBA.com). They have shared the floor for 188 minutes, and have an offensive rating of 112.9 and a defensive rating of 99.2.

Magic Vs Nets - Monday, January 6th @ 7:00 PM

Probably shows that, for depth reasons, shouldn't sign 3 guys who can really only play center. Probably could use a PF/C type player right now- Birch isn't really working in that role. Though not many teams can handle being down 2 of their main forwards, with the final forward hobbled by an injury.

That was hilarious. Maybe that is the trick- just stick the small guy on the big guy and they will just get so confused that they will do something dumb.

We have played one of the most difficult schedules so far this season. Charlotte, Chicago, and Brooklyn have played three of the easiest. Don't be surprised if we do go on a late season run.

We have no idea what Chuma is. Why would we make a trade with the expectation that he can fill the hole?

Any ideas on the cause of our defensive decline? My thought is that we might be over-rotating at times, leaving too many guys open, but don't know if that can account for all of the drop. Of course we just ran a gauntlet of some of the best teams in the league too, which likely didn't help much.
  18. A couple of thoughts: 1. A 9 point quarter is pretty inexcusable. Really shouldn't be expecting to win after something like that. 2. I don't think I get these rotations sometimes. Bamba basically is the guy that gets the team going again in the first half. Gets no minutes in the third quarter. I know our starters started to play better, but it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. 3. While we lost the last two games, they were to the 2 best teams, record-wise, in the NBA.
  19. just saw. 9 point quarter...... That is just pathetic.
  20. bamba has been our best player by far (have only watched the last 4ish minutes)
  21. Why do we have him on one of our two way contracts then? Surely there is another developmental guy that we could give the spot to. Just doesn't make much sense to me.
  22. Is Magette usually better? Because I felt we couldn't even see anything from the development guys (especially Johnson and Frasier) since he was busy turning it over 3 times in 2 minutes.
  23. That is what I feel like I was seeing on defense too. He was moving and reacting, not hesitating. Post game really isn't important. He just needs to be able to do two things around the paint. 1. Finish baskets strong when he gets the ball, either because of an offensive rebound or a teammates pass (he really shouldn't be bringing it in himself.) 2. Pass the ball out quickly if there isn't anything available to him. His 3 point shot already gives him a nice weapon that other teams need to respect (especially if he can keep hitting at similar levels). I wouldn't expect him to ever have much of a post game. Very few guys do these days and he really doesn't have the body for it.
  24. I was trying to watch Bamba on defense this game and, even taking away his blocks, he seemed to be moving well, putting himself in the right positions to take up space and almost always be between the ball and the basket. He seemed aware and active. On the offensive end, it looks like he still needs to work on his screening, but he at least makes some contact most of the time. His three point shot also looks pretty legit- it looks smooth and he looks confident shooting it. The biggest thing for him to improve right now, in my opinion, is his ability to keep the ball and not turn it over. He turned over the ball 3 times, and there were a few more times where he almost lost the ball. A lot of this comes from him grabbing an offensive rebound, or getting the ball in the paint, and bringing the ball down low. If he kept the ball high, he wouldn't have these issues as much.
  25. That’s what bamba needs to be doing around the rim too. Just going right up.
