He's attempted a shot at the rim less than 2 times a game this season. And he finishes at a sub par rate. Those are verifiable facts.

My bad, ctrl+F didn't work for some reason. Still 26th is very much "fringe first round".

"ability to score at all three levels" lol that is not at all Carlton Carrington unless we're not counting the rim as one of the three levels.

What exactly is a different talking point? Because my point all along was he's probably not a first round guy so it's a good decision.

ESPN/Givony and Woo have him at #25 in their best available and #33 in their most recent mock. Wasserman at Bleacher report didn't even have him in the Top 60 in his latest mock. He wasn't in Sam Vecinie's top 30 in his latest mock either. He doesn't appear on Kevin O Connors big board last updated 03/11. That's a top 50. Regardless of my personal opinions on the validity of those people's draft boards all of them are plugged in to scouting circles and talking to people about prospects. They don't get accurate mocks by properly judging prospects they do it by talking to people about who teams like and don't like. Given all that it seems highly unlikely Carrington was a first round pick this year. With a good year next year though he can be a lottery pick. The difference in guaranteed money between a 2nd round pick and a lottery pick is substantial. And his potential loss of earnings this year is bridged by the fact he'll likely make a decent amount in NIL.

He's not going lottery. He's likely not even going top 20. If Bub isn't picked first round he might only be looking at a 1 year guaranteed contract at the minimum. That's not "the bag" when accounting for taxes, agent fees and lifestyle creep. Comparing Markelle who was a clear cut top 2 pick in his draft to Bub who's not even a guaranteed first round pick is apples to oranges.

He's not really a surprise riser anymore. ESPN have him at 28 in their top 100. That's fringe first. The goal shouldn't be just to get drafted but to stay in the league when he gets there. If you get picked late first by a contender or early 2nd the organisational investment in your development is not very high. Plus raw fringe first guys fall into the 2nd all the time on account of teams trying to find more immediate contributors (see: Leonard Miller). When you're fringe first/second you either need to be good right away, show considerable promise early, or get drafted by an organisation with a patient approach and a development plan for you (Caleb Houstan) because the cost of moving on from you is not that high. (See: Tyty Washington.) And for me personally, Bub is so far away from being a real NBA player right now.

*Bub Yea I liked him but I think it's the correct decision to go back honestly and that's not really something I say very often. He's more fringe first than top 20 to me but I think with a strong sophomore season he could be lottery. Needs to be better getting to the rim and finishing when he gets there. Needs to be more efficient from 3, needs to make a bigger impact on defense. His situation reminds me a bit of Haliburton after his freshman season big guard, young for the class, a little thin and lacking strength, flashed some interesting stuff but you kind of feel they've got more to prove at the college level before you feel confident in them making it in the NBA.

Also Gary Trent really said to himself "these guys have 25 million in cap space in the summer, are in desperate need of shooting and I'm a free agent" going into this game. Dude was on fire.

A win is a win. Raptors fought hard and got some good shooting performances to buoy them but I never really felt like we were going to lose that game. Every time it got close one of Paolo/Franz/Jalen/WCJ made something happen and we pushed the lead back out. Really happy with how Wendell has been playing lately. Feel like he's rounding into being at his best after the injury disruptions to his season and when he shoots the ball this well it makes us so much harder to guard. JI is unbelievable and feels like he's starting to find the jumper a bit too. I hope he stays healthy.

Funnily enough his dad spent 5 years working for the Heat until recently being hired by Memphis as an assistant coach.

There are scenarios where I'd be cool with signing Klay (the years and money being right) but I'm not doing backflips if it happens. It's shooting and floor spacing on a level we'll have never had before but he's 34 and not really the same player on defense so it's only addressing the problem short term.

He's the definition of a black hole and we value passing. The only player on our roster who has an assist% lower than him is Jonathan Isaac, a guy who's the 5th option every time he's on the floor and makes up for it by being one of the best defensive players in the world. I had him lottery (in fact I had him at #6 and AB at #7 on my big board) but I understand why, injury concerns aside, you wouldn't want to draft a guy who's flat out not going to pass the ball back to Paolo and Franz.

My bad, you're right. (Time zone stuff, I usually look at tomorrow for today's games since most games start after midnight my time but the clocks went forward in the US, but not here yet, so 7pm EST games start at 11pm for me now.)

The 76ers and the Heat still play each other twice. The Pacers and Heat also play each other once more. And the Knicks and the Heat have a game to play too. All those games where it's impossible for everyone around us to win at the same time will be important.

Glad we seem to be over Brooklyn. Little disappointed we couldn't step our foot on the gas and blow them out honestly we had chances. This was a Paolo game that felt like a vision of what prime Paolo will be like. Just took what the defense gave him every time down. Didn't force anything, got to the FT line and found his teammates. Made it look easy. I've loved Gary Harris lately. The defense has been awesome and he's shooting it well. Jalen's confidence in the jumper is unbelievable right now. The way he's letting it fly it's hard to believe he was ever a bad shooter. Good W. Heat and Pacers lost. Let's go.

Fair. Wendell is shooting very well this year but understand you'd need more sample size before you felt like it was going in when he took them. I actually think there's a path to Caleb as a real NBA player also, he's young and he's long and he's not good defensively but he doesn't actively hurt you. He just needs to be able to do more than hit open catch and shoot shots on offense. Because teams helping off him and then closing out hard to him doesn't actually help the spacing issues when he can't make them pay for the hard close out.

I'm glad this team can beat the teams it should beat but it's frustrating when we **** the bed against our direct competitors. I think games like the last two are a real reminder that we're so far away from being a complete team. A 36 year old Joe Ingles shouldn't be the first guy off the bench for any team in the league. He can barely move on defense and for someone who's a great passer he turns the ball over a lot. Even if he is still the best shooter on the team by a mile. Playing good teams really opens up that there are some deep, foundational, flaws with the way this team is built that will require either some impressive player development or some tough decisions in trades if we want to ultimately win a championship. (And I'm not even just talking about the lack of shooting) Wendell and JI were awesome in the loss though.
