You mean the Suns where he was doing great up until they traded one of the best point guards of all time for Stephon Marbury? Or the Bulls where a team built around 3rd year Ben Gordon and Loul Deng, 32 year old Ben Wallace and Kirk Hinrich won a playoff series? Before he was fired a year later after 25 games even though Ben Wallace had a horrible season (first time he wasn't all defensive team in like 6 years) and Kirk Hinrich surprisingly didn't continue to average 16, 6 and 3 on 45/40/84 shooting?

Let's be serious though. Red Auerbach as head coach with Riley, Phil Jackson and Pop as assistants couldn't have won anything with that Milwaukee Bucks team Skiles coached.
-
I've heard they really love WCS too but I don't really see how he fits in the triangle.
-
Joe Johnson is a pretty good comp.
-
Well they traded Jason Kidd for Stephon Marbury so that's probably why they got worse when he was in Phoenix. They were just about .500 through 50ish games when he was fired.
-
It's completely fine having legitimate concerns. Skiles certainly isn't my first, second or third choice. I even have legitimate concerns about Thibs. But saying "Henny will be gone in 2 years because we'll under achieve" isn't raising any concerns it's just making a grand statement because you don't like Skiles as the candidate. A legitimate concern is "he seems to wear out his welcome after 3 years" or "his offenses have never been great even when he had Jason Kidd". See how I did that without ever saying "Henny should be fired if we hire this guy".
-
Honestly, the fan meltdown alone might be worth hiring Skiles for.
-
What I'd hope, if we do hire Skiles, is that he's used the time he's been out of the game to continue to learn and maybe evaluate some of the reasons he's failed in the past.
-
I'm not nearly as down as Skiles as other people. Obvs prefer Thibs but I'm open to Skiles and I won't judge until we see how the team looks on the court.

I think you're (and a few other people on this board) over rating Hezonjas ability to get to the hoop. He's a terrific jump shooter both from standstill and off the dribble but he's pretty much exclusively a straight line driver at the moment. He almost always settles for a jump shot in isolation and he doesn't have the handle yet to break a guy down. Year One he'll be great in transition, be a good shooter both spotting up and off screens and show flashes of brilliance from time to time as a passer, defender and scorer. He'll also force dumb passes, take ridiculously tough shots and play lacklustre defense on nights his offense won't get going. That's just who he is.
-
Thibs really doesn't strike me as a media guy.

I tend to think that the real reason so many GM's go to these workouts is so they can try and determine who other teams are looking at. I doubt any of those execs are going to completely change their mind on a guy based on 1 workout.

Magic are going to have 2 teams in Orlando Summer League this year which is pretty interesting.

People keep saying this and I have no idea why. Vuc is a center. His biggest contributions to the team are his rebounding and his low post scoring. By putting him at the 4 you relegate him to guarding guys far too quick for him, taking him further from the basket on defense meaning less rebounding. On offense you relegate him to a 15-18 foot jumpshooter because no way he has space to consistently post up with another center out there. He's also further from the hoop for any offensive rebound opportunities. So at that point he's less effective on both ends of the floor and there is no point having him out there.

Yea another thing I was thinking about was that ability to just heat up. On nights where Melo is on he doesn't even hit the rim and everything he takes goes in. Hezonja has had a couple of games this year where he's shot 5/6 from 3 or even I think an 8/8 from 3 game. You feel like if he got that red hot in the NBA with more minutes and a more advanced role than just "spot up shooter" he could go for 30 points or more.
-
This ones a little more out there and also a best case scenario (at least offensively) but he kinda reminds me of Melo. He's 6'8 (bigger than both Klay or Rudy Fernandez), strong and athletic and he can really shoot the ball. He doesn't have all the moves that Melo has at this stage obviously but there have been a couple of plays I've seen where he's hit a step back 3 or whatever where Melo is who came to mind.
-
I actually think Hezonja can be a better shooter than Fernandez on top of being bigger and more athletic.
-
My bad for assuming you were trying to participate in the conversation.

Nobody is giving up a lottery pick for a sign and trade. Especially because the draft will have already happened.
-
Nostradamus over here.

At WCS's age Dwight was averaging 17, 12 and 2 in the NBA against grown men. I actually like WCS more than some. He has a shot at being a really great defensive player if he works hard and gets the right coaches to guide him.
-
I actually think WCS could be a great defensive player. But he'll probably always be the worst offensive player on the court for his team and he'll have trouble guarding the post against big bruising post players. If he gets with the right system and coach I could see him being an All Defensive team player at least once.

LMAO

Also I wouldn't trade AG straight up for anybody who'll be available at 4 considering we have the 5th pick.

Im actually in agreement I just looked for those guys because I was bored.
