That’s fair. Freak athleticism is probably reserves for guys like Dwight Howard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. I think Jabari is highly athletic, laterally quick but not necessarily explosive. One thing I think he DOES have that we don’t talk about is wide, broad shoulders. The guys frame naturally allows him to bulk up pretty significantly, which I think will put him into a different category of anything we’ve seen recently - a very strong, quick, and tall shooter. I still like him much more than anyone else in this draft as a fit for the magic.

We pick Chris Webber, then trade him a few minutes later for Penny Hardaway and 3 future 1s

If the 2023 draft class is epic, why is arguably the best player in that class not a legitimate threat to be picked at #1 in a draft being described as average?

When Jay Bilas went to watch Kentucky practice, a player who did not log a single minute for the Wildcats all season captured his attention. While the team ran through drills and played five-on-five, Bilas kept glancing over at Shaedon Sharpe, a graceful wing who was working out off to the side with an assistant coach. “I was supposed to be watching the team,” Bilas, the longtime ESPN basketball analyst, said. “My eyes kept going over to Sharpe when he was working out with one of the coaches. He’s hard to keep your eyes off of. He is amazingly talented.” In April, The Athletic reported that Sharpe’s mentor, Dwayne Washington, “intervened” when Kentucky coach John Calipari attempted to play Sharpe. The belief in NBA circles is that Washington acted this way to eliminate any risk of Sharpe’s NBA stock getting damaged. Bilas said he has no concerns about Sharpe declining to play at Kentucky. “I don’t think there is any concern over that,” Bilas said. “He reclassified to go to Kentucky. He was ranked No. 1 in his high school class. If he stayed at Kentucky for another year or stayed at his high school and gone to Kentucky, we would be talking about him as the No. 1 pick for the 2023 draft. That’s how talented he is.” “He’s another guy that has not only size as a wing but really long arms," Bilas said. "He’s got a near 7-foot wingspan. Really athletic. And he can really shoot it. He’s a quiet, unassuming young man off the floor. But on the floor, he knows how good he is.” Sharpe has worked out for several teams with lottery picks, including the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets. https://www.nola.com/sports/pelicans/article_99648322-f1a4-11ec-be2b-c74723f5a479.html Tick …Tick …Tick …Tick

I wish I could read this. Love the diversity on the board though. #GoMagic!

Would you trade Ross for Hayward and Pick 13? https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/267477/Hornets-Trying-To-Trade-Gordon-Hayward-With-One-Draft-Pick

I dont think you understand the levels of improvement that are coming for us next season. We are running teams off the floor regularly. Mark my words

Bruce Pearl was just on Cowherds show. Of course he compared Jabari to Durant and said he had a great work ethic and Smith just wants to win. Your typical interview with a prospects coach. Just gonna say it i'm all the way out on Chet. Too scary. Give me Jabari for simplicity or a trade down and Paolo/Ivey/Sharpe.

I want Jabari and either Hardy/Terry. This would require trading back into the first, but I think there are several avenues to achieve that. CT- finally watched Terry and he’s impressive, good call.

I’ve always been intrigued. Things he does, looks so easy for him and very advanced at this stage of his career. I don’t know about what’s upstairs but my intrigue has never left. If we trade down and pick him, I think that’s the most exciting scenario for me. Same way I felt when we drafted Dwight.

Chet …the guy multiple sportswriters including Vecenie have said Victor W made look silly …Peek yesterday saying he made him look like a 9th grader . Talk about depressing for a number 1 pick … And if all we do is make our pick and nothing else I’m gonna be very disappointed

My final board: 1. Smith 2. Holmgren 3. Ivey In the end, I think we draft… Chet. I still can’t get over that he was wined and dined for 2-3 days by Orlando last week, fits the WeltHam prototype, and won multiple state championships with Suggs in high school. Again my preference is Smith right now but I’ll be fine with Chet if he’s the pick.

Ok here's a thought: the mainstream has been all "they're picking Jabari" for like a month now. But literally 2 days ago in his media availability pre draft Weltman said he was proud of how "buttoned up" they were with regards to leaks etc. Why would he say that if the entire league has known we were picking Jabari basically since we got the pick?

It's that time of year where guys who know nothing about the NBA draft watch a few highlights and roll out an opinion on their TV show/podcast/twitter.

Likewise. I think we are getting him !!!! In saying that.. Beal is now unrestricted free agent. We are in play for everthing. If WeltHam play this correctly we can be instant contenders for next season... We have ammo with picks.. players and cap space!! Here we come guys!!! The glow up is going to be MAGIC!!!!

He thinks that Banchero was the first one to workout for us but we’re keeping it under wraps. Also, we could take him at 1 or trade down for 3 and 17. — I think there might be some truth to it, but I’m usually paranoid and Banchero is the guy I don’t want

I would not be as upset if we swung for the fences and grabbed Sharpe with #1 as I would be if we drafted Stickboy. I would be even more impressed if somehow we ended up with #1 and #4 or 5 and grabbed Jabari & Sharpe or Ivey!!!

Thanks 28 …Sharpe has a lot more support here than I thought …some people are finally speaking up …not afraid to go against the grain on this board .
