junkie we have been on this board at least 10+ years together (ive been here since 06') I am going to mercilessly ridicule you if sharpe is a bust every time you open your mouth about who to draft, and i hope you stick it to me every chance you get if your right and never let me live it down, lol.

I wish this forum had a voting function like other forums. I’d be curious to see the results for this group regarding who should be drafted first Attached is a screenshot of the voting from another site.

Yeah that’s fair …but still over 2 weeks to go …things can change …I don’t care what pick we get him …he’s what we need and I want him …Givony also said this: Will Kentucky mystery man Shaedon Sharpe overcome concerns about his lack of experience, and few opportunities for evaluation, and earn a selection sooner than expected? And I love stories like this from today AM: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10037911-nba-exec-rips-shaedon-sharpes-high-draft-stock-show-me-where-the-5-star-s--t-is At least he’s in the conversation …people are talking about him …even though this is negative …if you were Sharpe and saw articles like this would it motivate you to prove people wrong ? …I think you get my point …if he’s any kind of competitor stuff like this will add the chip to the shoulder .

I have the same top two. Then, WCJ has a great contract and Mo Wagner is underrated and underpaid so I’d keep him around. Not in love with any of the guards yet, but Cole Anthony is the one I would trade immediately. Looks like a ball hog

I’m the same Soul. I’ve called Chet a twig, I’ve said he’s an injury concern, I’ve said he only plays well against lesser competition (this was after the Memphis game). But some highly respected people, who aren’t just talking heads (talking about you Steven A Smith), but actually study tape call him best in the draft, generational, and as you mention Schmit said best he’s ever scouted. This prompted me to rewatch a bunch of Chet’s full games (about have halfway through my review currently). I’m still in Jabari’s corner, but I’m starting to see their points on Chet.

Sharpe vs MJ Rice. Rice is 6-5 220lbs, was the 28th ranked recruit nationally and is committed to Kansas. This is just an extended game highlight, but I think most would agree Rice won the individual battle and the game. I would love to see the full game if somebody could find. To date I’ve watched (2 full games, 2 extended game highlights) which is all I can find on YouTube. My feelings on Sharpe is he’s extremely athletic (vertically), and can shoot the 3 well. However, he doesn’t move without the ball on O. He just stands at the 3 point line the crashes the glass for put back dunks. He doesn’t seem to have the ability to break his defender down off the dribble, he doesn’t box out and plays defense sparingly. I know many on this board love him and I honestly respect your opinions. Sharpe just doesn’t do it for me and I don’t think he’s wRoth trading back into the first for. And certainly not worth drafting at 1. My evaluations have been wrong before (for example, I was in love with Dante Exum and didn’t like Darrius Garland) and I’m the first to admit that. I just don’t see it with Sharpe and don’t understand the hype after watching film and not just his highlights of dunks and deep 3’s.

I think we learned not to "blow up the process" (see trading Oladipo + 1st for Ibaka). With that being said, we have ENOUGH young assets. I don't think giving away 3 1st round picks over the next 4 years (we own 5) isn't THAT crazy to get someone like Mitchell. Add in Suggs, RJ, and Ross (contract purposes) and I do that deal, despite my belief in the upside of Suggs's talent and leadership. Isaac and Fultz are off-limited because they are "sell low" candidates and Franz/Carter are off because I consider them to be core players for a great roster.

Nice …and you know what I’m thinking …make it happen Weltham …set us up for the future …if they value one of those bigs LFG …it’s fleece time or so I hope

I’ve said it a few times now, IMO adding the number 1 pick and an elite scorer would make Orlando a contender. Cole, Chuma, Ross, both seconds this year, both 2023 first round picks (ours and Chicago’s) and both 2025 first round picks (ours and Denver). PG: Fultz, Suggs, RJ SG: Mitchell, Suggs, RJ SF: Franz, Issac, Iggy PF: Draft Pick, Issac, FA (1) C: Wendell, FA (2) , Mo Wagner That’s a strong 12 man roster in my opinion.

Oh geeeeez , I have talked myself into wanting Chet, Hear me out.. Chet may be exactly what this team needs. With his size and skill and potential he would be joining a team of Markelle, Suggs, Franz, And JI which could be a great starting 5. If JI does get hurt again then Wendell or Chet can slide to the 4 and still have a nice lineup. I know some of you guys are down on Suggs but I believe he will be an All Star soon and the chemistry that him and Chet already have will be really amazing for this team and it is a huge advantage. I also believe JI is healthy now and when he came back in the bubble he was just nasty and I believe he will duplicate that minus the injury so we have the 4 position locked. I think the Magic are probably thinking some of the same things so Chet will be the guy and I hope the Magic training staff can help him build some size

Fan I love your style …I can tell you are an independent thinker …you don’t necessarily follow the masses lol. So I was a member at a Rivals pay site for college football discussion …when bb season rolled around I thought cool I can probably access some UK bb articles …so I started exploring …came across a Rivals site called Rupps Rafters …my membership allowed me to also post and interact with other UK followers …you talk about bb crazy …wow is all I’ll say https://kentucky.forums.rivals.com/forums/rupp-rafters-basketball-forum.26/ This site has bb discussion 24 hours a day Anyway, when I first got there I honestly had no clue who Shaedon Sharpe was …all I know is he was a polarizing figure and anytime a thread or his name came up emotions were high with opinions all over the place …I quickly became hooked …then I realized what a talent he is …I was like this dudes at UK LFG …then Cal came out at the beginning of February and said Shaedon is not gonna play this season but he is committed to practicing and getting better and will lead us next season …this is not an unprecedented thing as Hamidou Diallo did the exact same thing except he actually played the next season . The end of the season for UK was a major disappointment …but my hopes were not crushed because I felt not only was Shaedon gonna return but Oscar Scheibwe too …we would have been the most highly ranked and anticipated team in quite a while …Cal saying Shaedon was gonna lead us. As the weeks passed after the season skepticism about Sharpe returning started getting louder …I was keeping my fingers crossed but my doubt grew …Kyle Tucker of the Athletic tweeted this: https://mobile.twitter.com/KyleTucker_ATH/status/1515033383264473093 Which was interesting …by all appearances Sharpe seems to be a great kid with loving and supportive parents …as you read this tweet you can see the kid was still enrolled and taking classes at that time …nobody and I repeat nobody really knows the details of all this circus …who was running the show, did Cal try to get the kid to play or did he facilitate this debacle …unless one or some of the participants are gonna talk . Now on Sharpe …I keep going back to what Sam Vecenie of the Athletic said when prompted by a guy asking what he anticipated Sharpe’s draft position to be …he said he would be stunned if Sharpe fell out of the top 10 …and then added that if a certain team got the number 1 pick he could be in that conversation …the guy asked what team …Vecenie said Orlando …he fills the exact thing they need …a shot creating wing for himself and others …he then referenced the log jam of bigs we have …of the 3 bigs at the top of this draft right now Banchero actually fits better than Holmgren or Smith. Back to Vecenie …he said bring Shaedon in for a workout …see what you think and go from there …Sharpe has said he wants to go 1 …I’m positive he will be asked what happened at UK …and he will have to explain …Weltham will have to decide if that is a factor and what’s what …but I think anybody that is writing Sharpe off before he even gets to visit town is very premature . Lastly, so once I realized the Sharpe chance to play at UK was over it dawned on me that hey, I used to follow the Magic but all the tanking was not for me …maybe, just maybe we could luck into getting him …I could maybe watch him play in person, be a season ticket holder again …which brought me back here …and I still have that hope. But please Weltham …no more mismatched rosters ala your predecessor Hennigan . So Fan to answer your question …I’m a big believer in Sharpe and yes, even if he was not a UK guy I believe he is the best fit …the kid has talent and the highest ceiling in the draft …time will tell .
