I mean your not wrong, Ross has looked horrible this year. we need set plays not somebody throwing up shots off balance.

They don’t have to create their own shot because with better ball movement you often can find someone for an open look. But when you rely on one guy to take all the shots and there’s little to no ball movement, that’s also when no one gets open.

This is a pretty naive post. We have scouts whose sole job is to watch other teams and discuss NBA players.

I honestly believe there are people in this business who do not watch other teams play. I think our Gm is one of them. Like i said in another post i'm sure this board would have done a better job as gm the last 8 years. Just use the up vote, down vote system to make decisions! LOL!

True but I’d rather have a guy with his feet set already waiting at the 3 than having Ross kill any offensive ball movement like he usually does. I know we don’t have great shooters but we still need to have ball movement and play team ball not rely on one guy in the second unit to keep us afloat.

We don’t need them to create their own shots though. A simple drive to the basket by our PG who is amazing attacking the rim would suffice. He either finishes at the rim or kicks it out to one of our guys who are wide open. Ross can create his shot but he doesn’t do it within the offense which is why he hurts us more than he helps. Literally our second unit stands around while Ross uses screens to try and get an impossible shot off. That’s not a good offensive scheme you need to be more creative than that to be successful in today’s NBA.

I don’t buy this argument at all. The problem is poor offense construction. Bamba, Iwundu, Augustin (when he’s healthy), Gordon who’s often out with the second unit, Clark, can all shoot the three and have a decent chance of hitting if open. Of course once Ross starts taking all the shots, no one else can get into rhythm. With better ball movement everyone would look better.

This very well could be our most important game to date. We are playing a team that is right above us in the standing. If we can’t get up for this game then we are done. I don’t want any excuses that you didn’t approach the game right or shots aren’t falling or need to play with more purpose. It’s time to sink or swim... who are you Magic? Define yourself with this statement game! We’ll all be pulling for you, but it’s your time right now this will define your mental fortitude.

His shots are contested because there’s no one else in the second unit that can make plays, shoot, or create their own shot. He’s on an island out there and is the focus of defenses. poor roster construction

I understand shooters are streaky, but when he's off we don't need him forcing up off balance contested 3's just for the hell of it. I'm unsure if Clifford is pushing him to try to carry that second unit but it's a bad look. Clifford should be able to get us better looks than Ross coming around screens the whole time he's in there. I dread seeing Ross enter the game because ball movement will stop and he will come out jacking up everything.

+1 I would upvote this post if I could. My sentiments exactly along with most on this board. We need a big change and it needs to happen this offseason. We don’t need to evaluate this team anymore we need to dismantle it starting with Vuc and his laughable effort.

Nice post! I believe Gordon is just fed up with buddy ball. And as I’ve said before, we will not change our direction until we stop running our offense through vooch. It’s archaic. It plays to no ones strength except him. Clifford is just as lame as this offense.
